They would be much more interesting and they might even be more funny.

Well, they did have the "dream from the future" episode where Lisa married Milhouse, and wanted to kill herself, after Bart took her scholarship from her.

I don't know about South Park, but I'm afraid Springfield would be too bleak if Homer became Abe and Bart became Snake. On the other hand, we might get to see Nelson run against Quimby.

No I think that the Simpson's have plenty of time travel episodes and could do more. The show is not stale and to be quite frank there are two other reasons I could think of. 1 most of the viewing audience is familiar with the cast. 2 They are making money!

part of the charm is the fact that the character is unchanging. But, I'd love to see Lisa as a waitress with two bi-racial kids, waiting to see Bart get out of jail as Maggie the hooker pulls up in a flashy car.Marge shows up with her sisters and Homer is late with his drunken floozy girlfriend. As for Southpark...............

I do think that all characters should get older when time goes on. It would seem more realiistic don't you agree? I think the only cartoon they did that to was the rugrats

I think it's quite funny that they are still the same age. They've even commented in their episodes that they should be older by now.

No, they would just get too serious (imagine Burt having to marry and to take a job!). Plus, they would still not justify your placing this question in the philosophy area :).
