I didn't let get dramatic, just improved a few things in my life > then lost everything. Now I'm slowly improving the things around me again; hope it turns out better this time as I'm getting too old to start over and over again.

If you became, let's say suddenly rich, if you are living in a refugies camp in Darfour, or Bosnia, or Colombia, certainly your life will change and I don't think for better.
Instead, if you are in any anglosaxon country, if money comes to you, you become your best.
But it happens "the best" in some people is not "the best" in human kind.

Money just turns up the volume on your personality. If you are a loser, you become a bigger loser, if you are a winner, you become a bigger winner.
It's easier to change bad habits now, when the pressure is little. When you are a millionaire, the pressure is intense and it's harder to change.

I inherited and then sold my in-laws house and am now able to afford a nice 3 bed detached Bungalow ready for my upcoming dotage. Great stuff. ( obviously the kids will get it eventually - but not just yet!)

A bit. It helps to buy things that important to me. What matter most is how you spend the money according to your priority of needs.
