Good and Evil are manifestations of a person acts based on many, many factors in his/her life.

First, we have to define good and evil... or narrow it down an example.
Second, as a child, a person brain and emotional attachments become to lay way his/her path for his/her future, so if a kid is born and raised during war, chances of him/her becoming violent are great, and therefor evil, by many. If a kid is born in isolation in a pacific island he will not have conception of what is good and what is evil.

Define 'good' and 'evil'. Some would argue Dick Cheney is an evil person, while others would define him as good.

There are basic moral rules that societies expect their citizens to conform to. In that respect, some people are hard-wired to be less conforming to social norms, more violent, etc. There has been some evidence of this in medical/psychological studies.

But these studies only point towards a predilection towards these less socially compliant behaviours. There also has to be influences/environments in their upbringing which either are neutral to their nature or positive or negative towards that nature.

Therefore someone born with a more aberrant nature may not grow into a rebellious adult if they are raised in a way to counter that tendency. Likewise, someone who is born with a compliant nature might be driven into a caustic being socially, if they are raised in a way which pushed them towards that type of behaviour.

Therefore, in answer to your question: a little from column A, a little from column B.

Peace

just an add-on... yahoo needs to get their censors to shake their heads... I can't even print the commonly used nickname of VP Richard (Dick) Cheney? Sheesshh , come on people....

2nd add on... just playing with this... I can say penis, but I can't say dick.. this is just too funny. Maybe I should use that with Cheney.

Peace

People are born with potential only. Everyone is born with the potential for (tremendous) good.
I don't believe anyone is born evil. If there is evil, it it the result of not having been shown or recognized the potential or value for good in life. It's the product of ignorance and greed, as Dickens implies. Of not having truly "lived" at all.

"evil" is "live" backwards, after all.

1/ what is good and what is evil. Every society has a differing view. so how can it be that one would be born good or evil.

2/ th evidence shows that our personalities are developed from the gene base.

So we become good or bad because we survive in the society we are born into.

i think we are born good and in life we learn to either be good or to be evil. i think some people might be born with a higher chance of being raised evil or good but i don't think that babies are born good or evil. its learned through life.

I remember very well years ago hearing my parents talk about someone having bad blood. I never when young believed that their was such a thing. Now at my age 58 and I think of all the people I've known I've seen very little to disprove the saying she use to have. Seems many times bad blood runs in family lines

The apple does not fall far from the tree..

It is all about parenting and the morales and values you instill from the day they are born..You show them what is right and wrong, you dont just tell them..Don't do the "do as I say not as I do approach" it will fail.

remember that you will need to be cruel to be kind on many occasions..What works for one kid will not always work for the other, treat them as individuals..not with a broad paint brush, because a book says so...
cheers!

i dont think people wear either "black hats" or "white hats," i think there are quite a few gray ones as well..

but i do think people who are truly "evil" are born that way.. there are a lot of examples of people who were born into nice families, had a lot of opportunities in life, etc... but still climbed clock-towers or did other terrible things.. and there are a lot of examples of people who were born into terrible situations who never did anything even remotely close to that

makes me believe were born into our "hat," whatever color that may be
