Please no neggitive comments. Where do you think our world is going to stand on racism in the future? Do you ever think we will reach one solid ground as humans?

I'm looking for the source of a quote. If I remember it correctly, it goes something like:

"God makes us fall in love with all the wrong people first, so that when we finally do meet the right one, we've had enough practice to be able to get everything right."

I'd like to know the exact quote, and also who said it. Thanks.

(Yes, I've aready tried Google, to no avail.)

Hell.....a place of suffering/anxieties,
Where desires are impossible to fulfill,
Where Hate reigns,
Where compassion is absent,
Where the soul feels uncomfortable..
Where Hope is very distant..
Where greed is the motive.....
Where you are forced to act against your will...

I have learned this week I need to be human to help others. I always feel the need to be perfect and at times I care about the opinions of others, what can I do to have a godly self esteem and not "try so hard" or always feel the need to "explain myself".
I realize I can live this way but how can I let go and let God?

This is what I was told this week.

"You need to be human to be able to help others, you stumble, make mistakes, learn from your mistakes and forgive yourself. these are learning tools. People are not saints and everyone has sinned at least once".

What do you think of this quote? Any opinions?

The recent concert which was organised to "Make Poverty History" has not worked so far, will it ever work? If I had a million pounds, but the average savings, etc, was in the hundreds of millions, would I still not be poor? (Not that I consider myself poor, I don't) Is the only way to make poverty history to get everyone to give up what they have that makes them rich, to get rid of the system that defines poverty by the power and the riches of the comparatively few?

The two most important arguments for death penalty are:

F1) It is a strong deterrent
F2) It is essential for retribution

The two most important arguments against death penalty are:
A1) It is not a good deterrent
A2) The law might be objective, but its implementation is very subjective. Once life is taken a subjective error cannot be corrected.

Sorry, I cannot include any religious arguments

I strongly agree with F1 and F2. But A2 is true. In my opinion A2 trumps both F1 and F2 - so I am against it.

Your thoughts?

I have a friend who has taken on more than she needed to. She is going to school full time and is taking advanced placement classes. She is also working an average of 36 hours a week at a back breaking job. She is stressed and was venting to me and someone over heard and acted like her problems were nothing.....that she didn't even know stress. Then the lady started going off on her mortgage payment and everything else. I didn't know what to say but I felt like making her eat her words. But then I started thinking, people always do this do they not? I have heard allot of times someone complaining about something somebody else will almost always counter them with another thing. Why do you think this is?

Sorry, I don't know if this is in the correct category but I didn't really know which one to put it in. Thanks for the answers!

I been reading a lot lately about finding your true self. How do I know what is really my true self or just a reaction to either a current person's feeling or something someone said years ago. For example, if someone at one point said, "You're funny" how do I know that being funny now is part of the real me or just a reaction to what that person said so many years ago?
