I know this question has probably been asked 1000 times before, but its something I cant get my head around. I have recently lost someone close to me and since then think about it a lot

I know there are no real answers to the question and when I think about I think it must just be the end, nothing happens? God is a fantasy and cant be real it doesn’t make sense that we all die and live again somewhere else.

But what about ghosts and mediums that apparently contact the dead? surely there must be proof of this? I have never seen a medium so don’t know how real it is, but if they REALLY can contact the dead surely that means something happens after we die or at least they could get some answers?

I wish I had an answer to this, its sad to think the person I lost has gone, existence is nothing to them they don’t even know they where alive, they or we all will just be forgotten about,

They say you´ve either got it or you dont...its like as if to say some people are just born with more potencial in them..more talent...or more of an ability to succeed. I personally think everyone has equal potencial, you´ve just gotta find what you wanna do in life, and then work hard at it. Granted some people have it easier than others...but even so their inner potencial is still the same right? Take away money, and everybody would be on the same playing field...with just as much ability to fulfill their dreams...right? Everyone keeps tellin me that some people are just born with the "it"- factor.....apparently its got somethin to do with natural selection. Is this true? Do you think your life has already got pre-set boundaries for you?

What are we humans actually doing? or is everything just happening?
we do enough work in one year to pay every family US$75,000 a year - and everyone [more or less] works, so US$75,000 a year per family would not be far from fair - we do enough work to pay everyone, including homemakers and students, US$15 an hour, and everyone works more or less equally per hour [slackers get fired, except bosses] - peace and plenty, happiness and quiet

instead, we pay across the most supersuperextreme range: from 1c to $10,000,000 an hour, from 1000th to a million times the average - with only 1% getting above average, and with 90% getting below a 10th of average - down to 1000th of average

why are we doing this? or are we doing nothing, thinking nothing, and it is just happening and we are just not there or anywhere at all?

what possible reason could we have for doing this, if we are actually present and doing it? what reason could anyone imagine for any creature doing this? how could we explain it if an alien asked us? oh, we are doing it because ... what?

with this poem (look at first and last lines specifly) Is Millay trying to opposite the above saying- Does she mean to say, "It is not better to have loved and loss than to have ever loved at all?" Is she saying that she rather die than give love up her love for someone? please read...

Sonnet 30
Love is not all: it is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain;
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
And rise and sink and rise and sink again;
Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It well may be that in a difficult hour,
Pinned down by pain and moaning for release,
Or nagged by want past resolution’s power,
I might be driven to sell your love for peace,
Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It well may be. But I do not think I would.

Edna St. Vincent Millay

I just finished Atlas Shrugged and was blown away. But I often get blown away reading philosophy, as if I'll believe anything. So can anyone take the wind out of my sails and tell me why Ayn Rand is full of it?

We all think we have it, but we can't quite put our finger on what it is or how it works. Is it an emergent property of a complex brain? Is dualism the solution? Is it beyond our ability to understand because we are trying to understand that with which we do the understanding?

Most people tell me to not look for a woman and love will come naturally when I am not looking. How does that work?

Thinking of something, one can be THAT, Thinking of God, One could be God.

I recently read some books by different people that elude to the fact we could be living in some sort of illusion.I even saw something about the posssiblity of it with Author "Steven Hawkings" The Hawkings Paradox" The Buddist talk about it and also other cultures like the Druids speak of you making your own reality .Is there something that can give proof of this or is it all theory? If its so then we shouldn't even worry about the future?Please no religious quotes .This is for logic and scientific discussion please.If religious please keep it short and to the point .Thank you

Whenever I feel really happy I get nervous cuz I know that I will not be able to hold on to that happiness. Something is going to happen tommorow and I will not find the same joy in things in which I found joy today. Isn't that weird, that even when I am trully happy, I am thinking about the bullshit that will bring me down eventually. Does anybody feel the same way?
