Always room for improvement.
Without improvement we become stagnant. Mired in our own tripe.
Be happy with what you have, but continually move your goal posts.
Done with the right intentions, and motivations, it's referred to as improvement.

The grass is always greener. We want what we can't have. We yearn for something more. It's in our nature. It can be a positive thing in some cases. If you're happy with the status quo, you would never strive for more, never try to be better. Ambition can be an admirable trait. But. What is the point of living if you feel no satisfaction about your accomplishments & constantly worry about the next thing, constantly wanting something more, something better?
The key is to live in present time. Be happy in the moment. Enjoy what you have right now. Not worrying about the past or the future. You can't live in the past, it's gone. You can't live in the future, it doesn't exist yet. This moment is the only one where you're really alive. So live in the here & now. That is the key to happiness. Being present. Being grateful for this moment.
Easier said than done! I know I struggle with dwelling on the past & worrying about the future. A control freak, I worry about everything I can't control (which is nearly everything!) Sometimes I allow myself to relax & just be. That's when I feel the most happy...

It is the compulsion of life that it has to be on the move - otherwise there would be no difference between the inanimate and the living.
That makes us want change - that is, a variation from the status quo. However, we do not want a worsening situation from the status quo - we work for improvement - otherwise, it would hurt our big ego. As a result, we are ambitious. Animals do not have much ego, so they are not so ambitious.
That then is the reason why we are never satisfied with howmuchever we have.

Each of us have a different status quo. But the best part of wanting is the wanting not the having. Because once we have we start wanting again.

because of the inequality latest in our united states of america---from jobs to wages--Democrats and liberals were attempting to modify issues for the *better effective*. Conservatives on the different hand...? might want to incredibly shop the status quo intact and the misery to proceed unchecked. after all, that's what is going on in a 'capitalist'-run united states of america.

People do not realise that material possessions do not make a life, but it was you do with that life that matters. People have jobs they hate to make money, not to enjoy themselves. They are constantly changing everything in their lives because they are bored with what they have, because they crave things that are new. They do this by getting new jobs that pay more, and they use this money to spend on more cheap useless stuff which will break in a year, forcing them to go out and get more cheap useless stuff. The cycle of greed is vicious and self-delusional. As soon as people realise that happiness comes from other people and the events they share, and not from inanimate objects, the better off we all will be.

Such people never look down and only look up... just as a man with no shoes looks and longs at a man with shoes but refuse to look at a man with no legs at all .
We often don't realise how blessed/lucky we really are and that is precisely why we are never happy with what we have!

Because we are social creatures who continually compare ourselves to others and we find someone whom we perceive to have more or better.
We also have pride and drive to be the best.
We also value all the wrong things - money and possessions vs love, respect and loyalty. I guess that's because you can easily measure the first, so you can easily compare by them. It's much harder to compare levels of respect each person holds. And we just HAVE to know how we're doing compared to our neighbour!

It's in man's basic nature to constantly try to improve his surroundings. Like the wind has to blow.
