I recently read some books by different people that elude to the fact we could be living in some sort of illusion.I even saw something about the posssiblity of it with Author "Steven Hawkings" The Hawkings Paradox" The Buddist talk about it and also other cultures like the Druids speak of you making your own reality .Is there something that can give proof of this or is it all theory? If its so then we shouldn't even worry about the future? Please no religious quotes .This is for logic and scientific discussion please. If religious please keep it short and to the point .Thank you

Nothing can prove anything of these theories. :P I am thinking of all these too all the time but maybe better I didn't because I won't come to the truth in any case. And if I will then how will I know this is the truth... But I'm pretty sure this can be some sort of an illusion. It's like I guess it's obvious the reality is much more vast then what we can accept with our brains. We just can't see all like daltons can't separate colours. I guess just our mind is not ready. And of course you shouldn't worry about the future because worring is a bad thing (ahaha, I worry soo much :P) but just remember that if you exist here (and I hope we exist because at least we think no matter what is for real) then you have to do what you are expected to do here, with our vision on the world no matter how narrow it is! Maybe then we'll be able to see a bit more... Ah, just it seems to me all the philosophy tells about the same and even that a human being can't invent anything more in the views! I guess the main idea is that life is going to become better someday and that we are evoluating (in any sense) to something better... Maybe we are.... But that's again my idea only because all people seem to hope for good. Okay, maybe I have to stop because this can be for to long. I hope I have not confused you with my thoughts!
Have a good life,
Maria ;)

Garden variety skepticism has been around for centuries.
Because in the theory of knowledge, it is very powerful.
You can't expect me to disprove skepticism in this short space.
But I'll try anyway.

Here goes: to have truth and falsity there must exist a reality. If we speak meaningfully, we must have truth and falsity. If you say "Reality is false" then what you say is meaningless.

Or

If it's possible we're radically deceived, then if we believe we are deceived while what we perceive is regularity in nature, then we are believing against the evidence.

Or

If you stipulate that reality is beyond perception, we'll never apprehend the true nature of things. If all we can have certain knowledge of is our minds, then external reality, by definition, can't be fully known. And since truth and falsity are based on there being a reality to refer to, the mind can't be known either. And so naive realism can't be true.

Okay, okay, I give up: yes, I created the Matrix and, yes, you live in it. So, shut up and produce more electricity for my needs.
Sorry for that, the temptation was too strong.
We might live in such a "thing", but all we seem to be able to do is to ask this question: "What if...?" For most of the people, life is real. Ask yourself this question: if this were a matrix, why the unnecessary pain? Why would anyone build a Matrix in which children die of AIDS and starvation? Wars, I understand, maybe the Matrix needs our capacity to develop new technologies, but slow and painful death, why? I am one of the people who believe that all this is real.

No, life is definately not an illusion. What you make of your life, is for the most part, up to you. Yes, I guess sometimes we do create our own reality. We were all created for a reason and that main reason being to serve God. Without God in our lives, we will never be all that we can. Dona G.

do some reading about Quantum physics and your mind will wonder even more.

We might be in layers of time. My son who died four years ago......perhaps I am already there on the other side with him. Even though in my conscensiousness (sorry too tired to spell) I am in my earthly time and space.
