Faith is the belief in something that transcends what can be proven scientifically. Scientific thinkers need proof. Is "God" taking this into consideration?

My g/f and I are having this debate. She says I'm always negative and cynical, but I don't see it that way. I see it as "not counting my chickens before they're hatched" and focusing on achieving small goals, but not getting my hopes up, so that if I don't acheive those goals, I'm not terribly disappointed, and also, it makes it that much MORE enjoyable when life suprises you with good things.
She on the other hand believes in motivational speakers and metaphysics, and said, "as a man thinketh...if you expect the worse, you will get bad stuff, it's what you expect & it's the Law of Atrraction...Metaphysics" and also "no matter where you go, there you are" and "bloom where you've been planted" ect...
She argues with me that I must be immune to positivity. I said "so, if you don't like me to much, why do you continue to talk to me? I think you LIKE the debate I bring to the table with you, because I open up your mind to new ideas, just as you do to me."

people say they are good enough cause they haven't done anything as bad as stealing, but the truth is, if I ask you if you ever lied, steal, fornicated, adulterated, etc; truth is that if you said yes that you commited 3 or 4 or all of them, (Rom. 6:23) that for the wages of one sin is death, before God tell me, tell me if you will pass if you don't believe the salvation plan through Jesus is the way.

America is based on capitalism, yet most people's religious beliefs are closer to (if not completely) socialism or communism. With the increasing influence of religion in our government what will happen to our Land of the Free?

Many scientists have studied the gorillas and none have discovered them changing into humans. Were these somehow left behind by mistake? Did they miss the cutoff date?
I have always wondered about this.

Do you feel democratic, republican, or independent that our opions do not count. That they tell us what they think we want to hear. That the smear tatics have gone to far. I feel that the reason we are where we are in this country politicallly is so to speak the changing of the guard, The old guard and beliefs are moving out and a new guard moving in. This is what I see and hear ( which I will admit it not the best barometer) people who appear over 65 or a little older do not seem to understand this war is not like ANY OTHER war we have fought, the age group that appears between about 40 to 55 understand it a new type of war whether they agree with it or not. Then you hear the younger generation who seem to be split down the middle about this war. In each of the groups that I have listened or participated in the conversation it always reverts to The Iraq war and it's politics and that brings on comments about the parties.I want a real people president not a politican. What do you want

That is to say, do bad ideas get dropped or shunned by society as a whole? Or at the very least by a general majority of society? For example, slavery was once widely practiced and was eventually abandoned as an inconscienable system; a bad idea if you will. Is it then a logical conclusion that all bad ideas should or will ultimately be abandoned as a matter of course?

Is arrogance not a sin? Are not other's understanding of the Bible and New Testament equally valid even if it differs from ones own view? Who can set the standard for correct understanding since all understanding and the meanings we give to scripture is ultimately based on our own experience and belief?

Are we a product of evolution? Or of a God who placed us here?

Many people say that if you believe in God, then you'll go to Heaven. But then Why did God create other religions for us to follow and when those religions "dont follow god" you'll go to hell? Doesn't he want everyone to go to Heaven?
