I think maybe people live in a way that destroys themselves because they don't really know what else to do. So, let me give you something to do, and we will see what happens.

1. volunteer somewhere. Soup kitchen, homeless shelter, library, it doesn't matter. You will begin to get some self-worth when you do something worthwhile for others.

2. Join a church. It doesn't matter if you don't believe exactly the way the people do there. Join a nice friendly church, and you will make friends. When you make friends, real friends, you begin to take more joy in people than in things, and not having nice furniture or fancy clothes or an expensive car doesn't bother you anymore.

3. Go to school. Find a community college and take a history class, or creative writing, or whatever interests you...learn a language maybe. When you accomplish something like this, it gives you a high that is better than anything chemistry can give you.

4. Do 1 - 3, and it will become much easier for you to get a job. You will be more motivated, more hopeful of a successful outcome, and more likely to be viewed as an attractive job candidate by employers.

5. Pay it forward - help someone else with this same advice.

First realize the past is the past.... "That" you cannot change. What you can change is right now! You ask the question but, do you really want something different for your life. If you truly do then action beyond your current "mental trap" IS THE ANSWER. Start with small steps and continue to move forward.... You did not wind up where you are overnight and change won't come that way either. Start with putting down the pipe, allowing yourself to see the world sober and begin to work on the things you dislike about your current situation. One at a time... Clean your space, get out and interact with people, get some exercise and set goals for what you want. If your not sure right now -you're not alone - few really know what they want. It takes time!!! Be patient in the process. If you find you can't quit the drugs on your own,get into a program. It is often comforting just to know you are not alone in your feelings and thoughts. Keep the faith~ Your new life starts as soon as you decide to make it so...... Peace.

Dear Scrunch,

I don’t think that you need guidance; I think that you need to see that someone cares about you and that someone can be kind to you, something which I suspect did not happen in quite a while. Which is why I am writing this. I can not make your problems disappear, or even help you in the matter because I don’t know or understand them. However I know that you will not give up whatever you are smoking before you find some solution for your life. But if you think that it really worth fighting for, gather all forces, that you have left and, try to find that solution. You can start by cleaning your crappy apartment. Life won’t think that you deserve better if you don’t think that. And if you deserve to live better then you should do it. A small tidy apartment is better than a small messy one. You can have a better home in a few hours. And then, in your nice apartment you can read two books: “Man’s search for meaning” by Viktor E. Frankl and “When bad things happen to good people” by Harold S. Kushner. These are really exceptional books, not positive thinking crap, like think that your problems disappeared.

Good luck.

This question is surely a simple-minded Christian's dream to answer. Yay lets go saving people! From a place you already feel like you are in? Its rediculous. Know your strengths and what gives you any sort of rush aside from weed. Whatever you enjoy or are good at, try to combine those attributes and factors of enjoyment and find a local class that teaches it. Find a club. Find a passion. Write out your feelings into some sort of creative prose. Whatever you do, dont keep the goodness in you in. Share it and care for it.

I know it's not going to be an easy thing for you to do but quit lighting up and getting high. Check into a rehab place. Surround yourself with people who can help you and keep you accountable. We all mess up at some point in our lives. No on is perfect. Get some help. I'm sure there are many people who would be willing to help you. Go from there. Find a job and clean up your apartment. It may not be easy but you have to take the first step. If you never do that then your not going to go anywhere. You can't do it on your own. Look to God. In my experience in life I have found many times where I have cried out to Him and He has helped me. I don't know if you are a Christian or not or what you believe, but I speak from experience when I say that God is real. He will help you if you ask. We have all mess up in our lives...even good people have done something. No one is perfect. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins even before we knew Him or loved Him. If He would go to those lengths to save us then will He not also help us in our time of need. I don't know if any of this makes sense or not, but I would encourage you to pick up a Bible and read it. One of my favorite verses come from Isaiah 41:13 which says,

"For I am the LORD, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you."

Hope this helps. Keep on keeping on and take things one day at a time.

With not knowing your age thus possible life experience it's hard to say. I you were I after 15 years of stoning I would of been 29-30 years old. As long as your vision is clouded be it pot, crack or prescribed meds you will never see the path you should take. Drop all the drugs first, this includes alcohol. Then set some short term reachable goals and move on from there.

When you think of your life, what is the one thing that comes first to your mind? This is the thing to focus on. If you try to focus on everything you will feel overwhelmed. If you change just one thing it will have a lot of positive knock on effects and motivate you.

YOU are the master of your destiny. YOU can choose what you want to happen.

YOU are stronger than you think.

If you want to clean up your apartment, don't think about doing the whole thing....overwhelming....look at one small area, doesn't matter how small and do that bit only.

Go to bed each day saying, what did I do today to me me feel proud?

All the things you mention can be fixed. Just not all in one go, afterall it probably took it a while to get this way!

Best wishes.

You have forgotten who you are. You are made up of two parts, body and spirit. Your spirit (higher self) sits in a place of honor, controlling everything in your life for your best good.

Your soul (you) create the challenges and lessons you need to discover that we are all connected, we are all family and that family is God. We understand and love each other through that connection. No matter what your ego-self thinks, there is no one to judge you. Your life is honored just for your decision to live it. Your consequences are the only result of your choices.

Free agency and responsibility are yours and only yours. Otherwise, we could blame "God" for everything we do not like. Your goal is to elevate your thinking, your mind and your body and learn to co-create what you truly desire with your higher self and become the result of body and spirit in perfect harmony.

This won't happen in one day. Knowing that the power to change is in your hands, and that there isn't anyone in "heaven" judging you or waiting to hit you with a stick or send you to hell, or keeping records of all your mistakes is an incredibly empowering thing. You are one of the Family and you are loved. Say to yourself "I am a human becoming, help me to become." It will help you remember that you are much more than you may appear, and that you are a part of the family, and that family loves you.

You (your higher self) must have a plan to overcome all obstacles. Take comfort in the fact that the one person in all the universe who cares the most about you is in charge. That person is your higher self. Listen and watch for opportunities your higher self will set up for you.

Your experience is honored, your life is honored and your higher self will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up. Start writing down your success story so you can share it with others.

First, you might want to stop getting high. It's hard but you'll be supprised at how your life will improve with just that step. You also need to make a list of your goals and decide that stpes you need to take to achieve them. Life looks a lot brighter when you have a plan. You seem to already know what you need to do, you just need to gather the will to make he necesary changes. When all else fails open a Bible.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Grow a set, Focus on some chance to make the changes you need, get psyched up and force yourself to pray for the power to be brave and walk into a church. Look up the schedule tonight. Just do it. it feels better than getting high and is still legal in this country.
