Every religion has its own interpretation of why we (human beings) are here on Earth. Most say its a testing ground for the hereafter or its a duel between God and satan to see which one of us is devoted to God. I believe there must be a reason beyond those obvious/oblivious ones. God in all His excellence is above all of this. The Almighty does not have to prove anything as such and if yes to whom then? He is Omnipotent and doesnt need to judge His own creation and that too in this manner. The concepts of judgement and a bet between good and evil are too human based. God doesnt have anything to prove so none of that judgement or duel stuff makes sense. That leaves us with the question...What indeed is the real reason for humankind to be on Earth??

All my life ever since I was a young boy I was always told "respect your elders" "respect your boss" ect. ect. But i never thought the old man who through yelled racist words evertime he saw a black guy walking down the street "deserved" my respect because he showed no respect to the black guy. But I do respect lots of people because they do something that is brave or some thing like that becaused they worked to recive it, regardless of age or whatever. What do you think?

I have put up with alot of stuff at school, mall, and other places about being Catholic. My friends call me a "Stupid Catholic" as a joke, but it still sucks. Why do other religions make fun of us?

Answers to my last question left me thinking...Do they make you practice this stuff just in case you are asked this question?
Stop using the word faith, explain to me exactly why you trust in whatever you trust in.
And please no more ignorant comments from people like J W Hockey.

Billions of years ago, a big bang produced a large rock. As the rock cooled, sweet brown liquid formed on its surface. As time passed, aluminum formed itself into a can, a lid, and a tab. Millions of years later, red and white paint fell from the sky and formed itself into the words "Coca Cola.... 12 fluid ounces."

Of course, my theory is an insult to your intellect, because you know that if the Coke can is made, there must be a maker. If it is designed, it must have a designer. The alternative, that it happened by chance or accident, is to move into an intellectual free zone.

I am an Atheist. I would very much like to know why someone would give their life in service of a "god". Dont talk straight from the bible because it would not answer my question.

If people say they have "faith" that they have a soul, this means they really don't know. So, my question is: if you can't see it, feel it, touch it, taste it, or study it, how can it exist? Wouldn't biologists be studying it rather than the dead bodies on their tables--trying to figure out about this "soul"?

Can someone explain this to me? I've heard the 'overpopulation' argument for deer, but what about bears and bighorn sheep for example?.......heck even squirrels......

Suppose there is an atheist scientist who always works hard and dedicates his/her life to public service, helping others, and living by the highest moral standards. Perhaps he/she even discovers the cure for cancer or HIV. Still, this person staunchly refuses to accept any religion, as it has no place in his/her life.

Suppose also that there is a person who believes unquestioningly in the Christian God and the tenets of the religion, attends regular services, and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her saviour. This person, however, floats through life never doing more than what is needful to make ends meet for him/herself alone.

Who of these two people is a 'better' person? How should they be seen by society, and how do you think they are viewed by God? What can they expect after death? In short, is it better to be Godly or Goodly?

Currently, in the study of quantium physics, there are schools of thought that promote exactly this, that it is our thoughts, our beliefs, and the emotions behind them that create each individual reality. Therfore, reality is unique and transient to each. How then do we exist sharing the belief that we are all experiencing a common reality?

Why are there so many religious questions in this section, when there is already a Y!A section devoted to religion and spirituality? Don't people realize that philosophy is about the search for truth, not the search for faith?

Can you decide you don't love someone and just leave the thought? Or do you think if you love someone and leave them that you'll always have them in your heart?

I am curious to know this, as I have never really known a serious atheist or agnostic believer.

For me as a Christian my faith in Christ and the here after keep me going in life when things go bad. My faith is the reason I do good and my purpose in life for being a good mother, friend, and person.

For an atheist, what is your purpose to do good in life if you believe it is all over after you die? When things are bad in life for you what keeps you going? How do you percieve your life and the reason for living? I have always wanted to ask this but have not known anyone to ask. Heartfelt and serious answers only please...Thanks!

Poeple say that a religion is when one believes in a god or theology the pertains to spirtiual life. Well since atheism is the belief that ther is no god and that there is no spiritual life, then doesn't that mean that it is still a belief. Therefore could it be classified as a religion?
