No, it's not only about dating....
Basically, If you have a thought about something you want, believe that its already happened and the Law of Attraction will bring it to you... Some might not believe that b/c they say theyve never gotten what they wanted,,, but by concentrating on the LACK of money, for example, saying allthe time "I can't afford this or that", etc... no wonder they dont have it because they keep telling themselves they dont, and the focus on not having it, and thats what the law of attraction brings them.. Focus on what you have, not on what you dont have. Think about that thing you want, FEEL what it would be like to have that thing(important, thats how you attract), and the Law of attraction will bring opportunities and situations to you that will bring that thing to you... 'the right place at the right time' you would say.
It's not just thinking positive thoughts, it's the 'feeling' of those thoughts that will bring you what you want. Positive thoughts bring positive emotions, positive emotions bring positive experiences. Same w/ negative thoughts.

I believe the law of attraction is that 'opposites attract'. In electronics theory, like-forces repell and opposites attract. Neg. particles go toward positive particles. If you take a round magnet and put it up to another round magnet, you can feel them pushing away from each other, or slapping together very hard. Flip one of them around to see both effects.
People-wise you'll notice things that bug you about someone, sometimes are things you do yourself. People often gravitate to people who have opposite qualities. Not just male/female but lazy/ambitious, anal/laid-back, etc. There are so many factors at work with people, though, that this is actually more of an anthropology or psychology discussion. If you look all around you, though, with everything you'll see that opposites are attracting.

When I went to Yahoo search engine about "Law of Attraction", I first got "Try eBay". Seems a good enough answer.
But seriously, do you reference the attraction principle of atomic particles? At present, science believes in the string theory, which causes certain attractions of particles. But 400 years ago they believe in alchemy. Actually UC Berkeley turned some Lead into Gold, with a cyclotron, but it was worthless than the cost of doing it.

If you're talking about romance and soul mate attraction... then this is what I've learned. Mind you, I'm a person who is in touch with Mother Mary and other Ancient crossed over folks who say we have one Twin Flame and one flame only. Meaning,we marry anything and everything, however, trying on this and that, but often we are not happy. I've researched philosophies and religions world-wide and many of the ancient texts do mention Twin Flames or the equivalent thereof. I am told that during this time period on Mother Earth, we are all are being returned to our Original Ancient Mates, not just humans, but animals as well. Are you with yours? :) You will find this Twin a compliment to your life, not a pain in the keister or a burden you have to endure.

You simply must know the secret. When you know "The Secret", then you will understand the law of attraction. Anything you want can be yours if you understand the principles of attraction. The money, the right person, the right job, the right circumstances. All will present themselves to you if you know how to attract them. If in doubt? Check it out. At least watch the trailer - it costs you nothing.

You attract into your life what you resonate to the world. If you are loving, kind, generous and prosperous, you get more of the same. If you are a whiny, fearful victom you get more of that. That's the theory at least.

It boils down to seeders and breeders. The seeder (men) choose the female most likely to continue his characteristics and remain healthy enough to raise progeny. The breeders select mates based on their ability to protect her when vulnerable with child and her offspring. It's been going on for about 40,000 years give or take 10,000 years.
