If people say they have "faith" that they have a soul, this means they really don't know. So, my question is: if you can't see it, feel it, touch it, taste it, or study it, how can it exist? Wouldn't biologists be studying it rather than the dead bodies on their tables--trying to figure out about this "soul"?

The designated meaning to the word , is understood by people in a variety of ways, because what it tries to signify/symbolise is itself abstract.
You said it rightly, when people just have 'faith', they really don't know.
And, the sense organs provide a very limited level of perception. The mind that relies solely upon the sense organs too , therefore becomes limited , and thus 'inherits' an imposed restriction to perceive beyond it.
But things are not so hopeless as it seems ! There is a self-awareness, within that is unique to humans, compared to other living beings. Anything we would be talking about this self-awareness , being purely experiential, transcends the range of short-sightedness of perception at sense organ levels, and hence appears to be also a restriction, but really not so, because once a person gets his vision/perception stabilised beyond the sense organ level perception, he can still retain the lower level of perception, and can 'see' why and how these restrictions limit the vision !
Philosophers put it very simple when they say " Those who know do not speak, and those who speak do not know " !

This is like the question how do you prove that you exist? Because you are? Because I can touch you? You could simply be a figment of my imagination all this could be. Nothing can truly be proven scientifically simply because we are not that advance having faith and a soul to me have nothing in common. The extremist have faith but a soul I am not so sure and if they do then it is simply pure evil and destruction. Having a soul can been seen in most eyes. The man who stops to help someone pick up the groceries of a perfect stranger who's grocery bag broke all over the sidewalk he as a soul and it can be seen. A soul can also be perceived as a conscience for the non believer. Some conscience are good and some are not so we say they do not have a conscience or they do not have a soul.

The Soul is the "Seer" in you.
The Soul is the hearer behind the sounds that your ears receive
The Soul is the sound behind the words that fall out of your mouth.
It is the feeling beneath the skin that senses what you feel.
It is the doer behind the things that you do...

Soul is what sets you apart from a piece of rock. It is more than "life".

but, in spite of all these things, your Soul is something that remains untouched and unaffected by all the things that you do. It is the indestructible experiencer.

Science hasn't yet invented a measurement system to quantify it. As long as it doesn't, science will continue to live in denial.

this is a commen misconception that no-one seems to know the roots of

you dont have a soul
you are a soul

what you are is soul
consciousness
awareness
self
whatever word you want

doesnt take much faith to realise you are consciousness

spirituality is about reality
not something "out there"
it often gets made out to be something special
really its just life

soul is an old word
but dont be confused it means you
not some esoteric concept

what is the soul/self, is a different question again.

I heard about a German scientist who did a study on weighing someone who was dying, and then again after he died, too see if he weighed less.. he says the soul weighs like .3 ounces or something. More like losing breath. But no, we are a soul, as the bible says in gensis, god breathed life into adam through his nostrils and he came too be a living soul, our bodies are our souls and our souls die with our body, dust too dust.

You make the mistake of applying the scientific method to something by its nature can't be studied. For instance, you can't prove the existence of God, but you can't disprove it either.

The "soul" can be defined as the life principle of a being. Otherwise, we're a bunch of elements and compounds. You are your soul.

Consider that the most intricate and the strongest part of humanity is the human will and including the emotions. A new science was definitely created to study it. It is called psychology.Humans of late have tried to excuse God and explain mental processes of will and emotions with this science and they have in, this ones humble opinion, failed miserably. More people than ever are obviously miserable and confused.

The soul/spirit is the energy that keeps every organ functioning in your body. Without that energy, you'd be dead. So, you do not need to have faith to know that it exists.

I'm half-and-half when it comes to souls - not sure whether they exist, but not completely trashing the idea entirely, either. I never think of the soul in terms of the 'soul'. I usually think of it in terms of 'chaktra' or 'chi'/'ki' - the life force or life energy that is supposed to be the basis of life in general, which is also supposed to be linked to your aura, which, some believe, changes color along with your moods and/or emotions.

For me the soul is your life force. It surrounds you and shows your worth as in an aura. In life you will be forced to make moral decisions that are deemed fair and unjust. These decisions cloud your aura little by little as you continue thru life. If it clouds too dark, you conciously made bad actions in life. The brighter and lighter your aura is, the better you conciously tried to be in life. Other factors may temporary cloud it one way or the other such as if you are frustrated or physically hurt, but the change is temporary and you aura returns to normal shortly there after. I also believe that no one's aura can be completely clear/ white or black, because we all have something within us that we still preserve in our hearts and minds, however small it may be, that contradicts our thoughts and actions.
