There are ups and downs to immortality.
On one hand being immortal would mean that you had to watch all your loved ones die, and eventually you'd start distancing yourself from everyone and live alone for eternity because it'd be easier than loving and losing... constantly.

On the other hand, being immortal opens up a universe of possibilities. You could do anything and everything and not have to worry about your time coming to an end. You could climb Mt. Everest, or travel to the moon. Your only fear would be for others and never for yourself. All your dreams could become a reality. You're curiousity could always be saturated. You'd be able to see what the world will be like in a thousand years, or even if humanity still exists at that time.

Which would I choose? I don't know... it's a toss up.

I'm sure that if some day I achieve immortality it would be in a perfect state, so the idea of being immortal in an imperfect state is imposible (only perfection can achieve immortality). Once I discover that I'm immortal, I would start making plans to study every subject that is about us humans, and the world around us. Then my plans would be to reach the stars. Space travel would be next. Go to distant planets millions of light years away, and make babies with all the other races of the world to see how my genes mix in looks.

Let me answer this question correctly. I have been shot, stabbed, and I am in a accident nearly everyday which would
kill any human. I am in perfect health and look young. My feeling and thoughts are "why me"? Being immortal is not a luxury, but rather a burden. If you were given the option do live for ever don't take it. If I would have been given the choice I wouldv'e took a mortal life. I have asked many people to kill me. but the couldn't do it either.

I am immortal. As it is written: "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25,26) As for the question, it was directed toward Martha, but my answer is the same "Yes Lord, I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, He who comes into the world" Therefore, I shall never die. However you need to understand that Life here spoken of is not merely continuation of existence, but a never-ending relationship with the uncreated LIFE Who created all things. As it is written "This is eternal life, to know You the only True God (that is the Father) and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent" (John 17:3) As for my feelings, I'm quite happy about it. However it's also quite late so I'm rather tired. Have a good night, and hope to see you there!

I would have to use danny glover's immortal words... I'm getting to old for this ****. Other than that, I would be consistantly sad, every time you fell in love you would have to watch your loved one die. If you had kids, you would out live your entire bloodline. You would have to watch all the wars on earth, watch some things change why other things continue to stay the same. You would get bored and lust for relief, you would spend enternity looking for a way to die.

You mean I'm not? I believe I am immortal until proven otherwise.

In all seriousness though, it would probably suck since you would have to watch everyone close to you die. I don't think I would wish immortality on anyone.

The interesting thing is, you ARE immortal. You will still be around when everything has finally collapsed and the galaxies are an old tale.

That said, you might want to consider what you will be like, in, say, ten thousand years. Those little personality flaws and habits you regret? In ten thousand years, they might be positively hellish.....

I have actually thought about the possiblity of immortality and relaized it is not something I want, not at all.

So, if i were to find out that I was I would be very upset. I dont know what my thoughts would be.

Something along the lines of: "WTF??? How did THIS happen? I wasn't comfortable for the characters in Sartre's 'Last Exit', how am I going to cope with this crap??? Damn, I hope they make better drugs for depression and anxiety in the future, or this is going to be a DRAG! Hey! Wait! What about aging??? What do you MEAN nobody knows? If I'm going to look like a mummy in 300 years, I need to know NOW if I can commit suicide or not!!! Oh, right, suicide means dead. Balls. Well, SOMEBODY GET TO WORK ON THIS AGING THING!!! Hey, can I still take out a reverse mortgage??? Oh geeze! I always liked Calypso music, but THIS is ridiculous!"
