All animals, humans included, are programmed by nature to fear the unknown. It is a survival instinct, and those who claim to be completely free of this fear are either lying to you or deluding themselves.
The concept of "God" is just another form of self-delusion for those running from their fear of the unknown. The only course available to a rational person incapable of such self-delusion is to stare into the abyss and try to overcome their fear and enjoy their lives while they can.
Good luck.

Why are you afraid of the unknown? Every person in the world that you have not met is unknown; are you afraid of the other 6 Billion humans?
It's not just unknown, it's unknowable. There is no way to know until you actually are dead.
There are millions of Agnostics - those who aren't afraid to say that they don't have the answer - and that it should not affect you one way or another whether there is or isn't a god; you should behave the same either way because how you behave determines who you are. Remember, Shakespeare said "to thine own self be true"
If there is a god, do you really believe he / she / it is so childish that he / she / it cares whether you believe in it or not?
Agai why are you afraid? what does it matter?

If you think about it what does church and religion really give you by way of information about God; he is all knowing and all powerful, he is all good and hates evil, he loves you, and if he doesn't care for some of your thoughts or where you touch yourself or your girlfriend he's going to send you to the pit of hell to burn for all eternity.
There is almost no information carried in these statements. Who decides what is evil and what is good? Theologians. How many opinions do the theologians have? That depends on how many theologians are alive today. If God loves you why does he send you to burn for all eternity for trying to fulfill his commandment to be fruitful and multiply?
No one knows anything about any kind of God anywhere. You not believing in God doesn't put you on any more unknown ground than anyone else ever, and a really cool thing is that if you stop thinking about how little you know about whether or not you exist after you die or whether or not God exists at all it eventually becomes less of an issue. Time erases all doubts.

Because you believe that there is no GOD but then ask for help if you are afraid of the unknown? then your fear will finally lead you to believe that there is GOD! You are not alone! throw away your fear, but also stop believing in this or that. It's all don't matter. Lead your live in the noble and reasonable life, stop arguing to things that are unthinkable, you'll be just fine.

Whoa!!! How can you possibly Not believe in the presense of a higher power. Do you think everything in the universe just happened? One day there was nothing and the next day the universe appeared! Without devine intervension???
Look around you! This planet is teaming with life (yes, including us Sasquatches). Everything did not just happen because of the Big Bang! Someone (God) was behind it. It all happened because He said so!
Do you honestly believe that everything around you just happened by chance?
With God in your life, you do not have to fear the unknown!

to not have a believe is fear based, to believe in a a man and not be sure that he is god could be unsettling -to let go of the idea of a blond man sitting up in heaven with a staff in his hand could be
a struggle in your head dout what if I'm wrong fear sets in whoops the bottom falls out , and were stuck again. I have the same fear. I hope if I listen long enough understanding will come.

The only way to overcome any type of fear.....is to face it...head on. So, gather your courage....and do just that.
And, rest assured......there is a God. I'm forty years old...and I have had all the same questions that you, no doubt, have had.
I am a pretty intelligent and well educated woman. And, without writing what will, basically, amount to a book....about my experiences in life......just know that I have seen and felt Gods work and influences in my life....first hand.
If you are searching for inner peace. It is really a simple concept. Know that God is real....and know that you must accept his will in all things. Sometimes, things may not make a lot of sense to us......but, weeks...months....even years later......things become clear. Trust in God with all your heart. Find peace in knowing that He will take care of things....as they are supposed to be. I promise.

Seek out atheist communities either online or in real life. Read some books by Daniel Dennet or Carl Sagan. Read Sam Harris' - "The End of Faith".
If you're really starting to realize that there is no invisible man in the clouds then congratulations on waking up! Welcome to the real world. There is nothing to be afraid of and everything to look forward to.

Work thru the event that made you beleive there was no God. There is, and whatever dissapointment you have encountered - there is a reason behind it even though you can't see it right now.
FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND:
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Hey, I'm with you. I don't believe in God, and you shouldn't feel bad at all. Don't let others convince you that you should change yourself or that you're going to help. As long as you believe what you want, you can be happy. Don't be afraid of trying something new.
