I'm 15 and I'd like to learn how to play the guitar. I can play the flute very well, but that's it. My aunt has an acoustic guitar that she can lend me, but before I start, I'd like to know it's difficulty level so I can prepare myself. I don't want to quit in the middle of it. Is it hard to learn? Are there some things that I should know about the guitar before I start?

I have always wanted to learn to play and I just love hearing people play, I love acoustic so I decided I need to get a guitar and learn, I'll practice day and night cuz I really wanna get good at this.. the thing is I don't know anything about what a good guitar is and what I should stay away from.. eventhough I'm basically a beginner, I don't want to get a "beginner" guitar cuz I know I'm not gonna be able to buy another one b4 sometime (financially talking).. so plz u experts out there.. I need advice on where I should start and also do u think a used guitar would be a good way to go (I may get a good one at a low price).. your help is greatly appreciated..

Are there any good pop or modern opera songs that are sung in the bass range? I love to sing, and I have a very low voice. I have a pretty good range but am more comfortable as a bass. Any suggestions?

So im getting a new electric guitar for Christmas and im not sure to get a fender or a gibson. i like acoustic sounds but i still love to rock and roll when im in the mood. I love guitars that have and edge but are still classy. If you could tell what guitar to get also that would be amazing!

Do you think that it would be a good idea if I ca learn piano grade 1 then switch to guitar then work on it... Cos you learn all the basics form the start so I can just work my butt off to learn how to play FURELISE in iano or rock on...

I really cant decide about this so do you think that these is a good idea?

Is the C key supposed to be in line with the A key? (My G is offset) There are lines in the picture to show which keys are which.

How do you know when you are really ready to perform in front of an audience? I can play my music well when in the privacy of a practice room (I play the piano), but I never know if that means that I'm really ready to perform or if it's just that I am doing well because no one's listening.

How can you tell if your comfort with the piece in practice room is at a level that will carry over into a live performance?

Well I have all my majors memorized, and I know how to play my melodic minors, but I always forget how to turn a major scale INTO a natural minor. I started in 6th grade and now I'm in 8th but I'm looking into playing jazz and I need a better knowledge of scales and chords. =]

please how important is it to take lessons vs. trying to teach yourself? Or did you do both? Which is best way to learn fast, especially to be able to play beautiful pop songs? Thanks

Also how often do you practice and for how long? Anything really help you advance fast? (e.g. books DVDs or certain methods)

How can I use my knowledge in clarinet and apply it to another instrument so the transition wont be to hard.

2007-10-23 13:24:10 · 9 answers · asked by Hola. 3

I started playing the clarinet just over 10 years ago through school. I took music the whole way through school (6 years), was in every band (which played university-level music and toured before...just to give you an idea of my level...). I also decided to pursue RCM certification (Canadian...) in the 5th year and had passed Grade 8 (of 10) by the end of the 6th. Once in university, I played in a symphonic band and an orchestra over the first two years. However, for the past 2 years, I've had braces, and didn't want to play. I'd now like to get back into it, but my clarinet cramps my style--I'd already been complaining about it 5 years ago! I currently own a Buffet-Crampon B12, which I've read is good for a "student"...but I'm guessing that means high school. I am hoping to get back into it, playing with my university's orchestra (and, for detail's sake, we supposedly have the best music faculty in the country).

Lots of details there, I know. Any suggestions?
