FLW was far from angular and modern - in fact Modernism is the movement that he railed against he was much more organic and influenced by the Arts & Crafts style.

FLW wore a trademark hat.

He developed a lot of pattern from nature- look at the repetition of form in the Hollyhock house.

There is a FLW pop up book available at most book store that can also help explain his dominant forms.

go to the dollar store or walmart and get one of those waterfall statue things . then go to any local thrift shop and buy some type of doll house to sit on top of the waterfall. Add some rocks or tongue depressers to make it look like the water is falling under the house. in this way you can explain the genius of his construction and how soothing it must be to hear the water all night and day. you could talk about the who, what where and why of the construction. it would be great.

I used to have a teacher who dressed up as the person being studied and gave the presentation 'as' the person.

I would be tempted to copy this idea - bring architectural drawings, etc. Is there any way to find a 3 D rendition of one of his homes so you could use it to point to specific elements of design that he used over and over again?

I live about 4 miles from Taliesin and I suggest these props for your FLW presentation.

A poster/photo of Fallingwater is a must.

A poster/photo of his house Taliesin.

A sandstone brick or replica. It was his favorite local building material in this area.

Poster/photo of one of his many open fireplaces that didn't have doors or screens.

Poster/photo of some of the furniture he designed for the houses he built.

Photo or replica of his red "signature block."

Depending on time and your budget you can find some examples of this things at this website.

Good Luck and have fun.

Well, you did not specify how large the room would be, so ....I will just suggest you make a slide presentation...

How about taking slides of some pictures of him and his wife ~ both of them surely are very distinctive and attractive, including their clothes, she was just as distinctive as he was, both very artistic, both loved hats! ........ (just photograph the photographs!! ~ be sure to light them well or have a professional do it for you (you did not say what your budget would be!) .... and have slides made of photos of his houses, and surely one of the Guggenheim museum .....

there is a room from one of his dismantled homes installed in The Metropolitan Museum
~ The museum has a slide library, and maybe you could purchase a slide or two of that room ..... or buy some black & white prints of that room; I am sure they would have some for sale .... department of Photograph Services ....is it not still there?)

btw, there was a cartoon in The New Yorker Magazine...... little boy and father standing on the street just opposite the Guggenheim .....little boy is saying to his father, "How does it work?"

I just noticed one of the other answers from someone who lives near Taliesin....I am sure there is material there that could be used, don't you think?

all the best

What is your presentation focusing on? If it is a specific area of his life, then think about what he would most likely be seen with on a day to day basis and bring that.

Whatever you use, if it has words on it, you'd better use spell check. (presentation, capitalize proper names, etc.)
