Well, I'm learning acoustic guitar, so that I can move on to Electric, and the thing is, in my family, we all are generally good at an instrument or are absolutely hopeless, and I want your opinion to whether or not I should keep trying:
I started 4 days ago. I know the names of the strings, I can play three chords (C, A and G). I'm learning one or two a day, and am picking it up pretty quickly. I can play Mary Had a Little Lamb, and can tune the guitar. (Well, with an automatic tuner I have). I love it and practice for about an hour every day, and my fingers hurt soooo bad!
I can read tablatures, and the thingees for chords, but have no idea how to read actual guitar music, I can read singing sheet music only.
I'm planning on learning after I have 5 chords, (CAGED), because until then, I think that it'd be fairly useless.
I'm teaching myself by the way, and am mainly using the internet to find information.
What do you think?
Am I moving too slowly to ever be really good?

i.e. not change all of the strings, only one,coz my 1st string broke and i only have 2 strings at present...

I don't want to buy a course or a video (unless you can recommend a really, really good one), but just learn a little about runs and fillers, and the things needed to jazz up a simple song.

i do not plan on getting serious with it i just want a flute to kinda play in meantime but i dont want to go high quality.im ok with used just i dont plan on spending more than 20$, i dont care if it sucks i just kinda want to goof off,it doesnt have to sound the best either,

oh and how would you convince your parents to get you one for christmas if your mom would rip your head off if she found out you wanted to play another instrument,(but your dads ok with it)

I'm teaching myself acoustic guitar.
I've only been playing a few days, but I know the string names,
can play Mary had a little lamb and can tune the guitar.
I am starting to learn chords,
except,
when I try to put my hand in the right position,
my fingers slide off the frets,
or I can't get all of the strings.
will this be solved by practicing or am I doing something wrong?

also,
when I get the chord right,
what now?
do I not move that hand while I play the notes?

Me and my friend want to play a Rock song together.
