i'm having a production about a medley a musicals. i need famous duets and chorus songs from different musicals that will sound good if they're played in one production. i want the transition from one song to another to be as smooth as possible. and probably coherent (?) like the whole production will tell a story or has a theme

Can I come watch? ;)
How about South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Cabaret, West Side Story. Paint Your Wagon (not as well known but some very nice music), Victor/Victoria, Oklahoma, The Music Man, Funny Girl, A Star is Born, Yentyl. I'd look at anything with Streisand, maybe even all of the Disney movies as there are many great love duets there. Love all over the world, across the ages, relationships.

The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Wicked, The Music Man, Singing in the Rain, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, Brigadoon, Oklahoma, and of course all of the classic Disney songs. The only running theme I can think of is a love of music and possibly life transistions? Maybe the story could follow a man who comes to a dreary town and introduces them to the joys of music and singing...I'm not actually sure how you tie it all together...

The Sound of Music. (Most Beloved Musical?)

When I wrote live shows for Walt Disney, I was fortunate enough to have very good professional musicians who were capable of threading a group of songs together.

We did an Americana show called We The People that won the freedom award in 1983 as an Olympic salute. That was the first year the Olympics paid for itself.

Anything by Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber would certainly qualify. You've got some good, comprehensive lists here! Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, Evita, The Fantastiks are a couple others. Break your leg!

We did this last year for the concert! We had it set in a school and the characters were all from diff musicals. They did different classes which had different songs in it. Then they had the two mains as glinda and elphaba from wicked going through the story from wicked except far simplified and doing some songs from them!
