I'm a classically trained musician and orchestra teacher. I have often wondered why no one at the CMA awards or at the annual Latin awards or any of the other major music awards ceremonies seems to ever give thanks to the many people who taught them how to sing or how to play their instruments. A simple recognition from someone would be nice.

My school is holding a talent show (high school level) and I was pretty sure I would play the piano, but my song seems somewhat dull and my school has many talented musicians. Can you give me any act that's quick yet entertaining? I know singings out there (my voice sucks) along with dancing (not my thing), magic (too geeky--no offense), reciting monologues (boring), comedy acts (too risky); but what else is there or should I just improve my song or choose another? The act must be under 2 minutes so that's what's ruining many pieces I can play. Suggestions/help appreciated!

Hey, I'm a 13 year old girl. I've been playing bass for 2 years now, and I've played guitar for 1 year.

For guitar I only play for around 30 minutes (I used to do 3 hours...) and I always get a burn on my fingers. And it hurts!I know it's regular to get lines on your fingers, but I've been doing this for one year. I should've already gotton use to this by now (which I am).
I press normally, I do not add extra pressure or anything like that. Also, when I play anything it rips some of my skin off, thus making it vulnerable. Whenever I take a shower, water hits my fingers so it hurts EVEN MORE.

And a question regarding guitar players: How do you switch chords (especially bar chords) fast? I practice everyday, up to at the most 2 hours, but I never seem to change quickly enough for almost any song. How do I improve my skill wihtout having to increase my time range? Thanks!

I don't know how to read music, just pick up and play basic chords and then go with what sounds best. It's hard to get better that way. There is no time for in person lessons. Anyone had any luck with any of the learning programs out there?

I'm looking for something under the $100 range (used). I know that brands like Fender make "entry-level" type guitars in the way of their Squier line. I know Squiers make good beginner guitars, but are there other beginner lines out there from the other big makers like Gibson, Ibanez, etc.?

I just got a brand new clarinet about a week ago. It's a Buffet R13, and I seem to be having problems with its joints getting stuck, especially the bell. It got stuck once before, but I had my band director get it off, and it took him a while. How can I get the bell unstuck from the lower joint, and prevent this from happening again?

I want to learn guitar and need to know what kind of guitar I should get. I want something thats good quality and will last. I also need something that works for a good range of styles. I know Fender and Gibson are good, but most their stuff is out of my price range. I need something that will work as my skill increases, I have had people say that some guitars are easier to learn on, but then dont work as well later. I dont need anything "easy", I have LOTS of musical experience so I just need good quality really, not anything "beginners" (Guitar will be my 5th instrument)
Also, I would prefer electric.
