Anybody know of any dvds, or something that will teach me how to dance at Night Clubs. I have found many videos but they are either WAY out of Date, or they are too choreographed, it just looks funny if I were to bust out into some choreography.

We have a school dance coming up shortly after school starts.I've never taken dance lesson and I don't have the chance to anytime soon.At the school I'm going to, they do partner dancing. At my old school you would be considered a major nerd if you danced like that anytime other than the last song.So-the boy who is most likely to take me to the dance knows the basics(they teach them in their PE class) and says he did pretty well with the unit.I've never partner danced and I have no clue where to start. My brother is willing to learn with me from a book or DVD so that we have some idea but I don't understand how you follow.A boy tried to show me once but said I wasn't following right.Does anyone know what that means? He said it's how dances communicate the next step-how can I pick that up? He said if I learn to be a good follower, then no one will know that I dont' know how to dance. It's up to the boy to lead the dance-therefore it's up to him to tell me what to do? So lost...Thanks!

Isn't it strange that in competitive Latin American Ballroom dance it consists of Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Paso and Jive. Jive isnt Latin, it is swing. Also why isn't Salsa or Mambo or Lambada there as they are Latin? How can a competitive Latin American dancer not do Salsa as one of the dances. It seems strange.

Hey, I'm looking into swing dancing, so I was wondering what difference there was between Lindy Hop and Foxtrot.

I'm having some difficulties finding out anything about Foxtrot and figured someone out there would know!

Thanks

Meaning is there some type of "age-range" for people to start learning ballroom (who are serious about it)? Or could an adult (age 18-21) be able to learn and become very good at it, like competition dancing good LOL.

Ok, well my boyfriend has been gone for awhile and as a surprise, I learned the Tango and Salsa for when he returns. He has always wanted to learn this so I think he will be happy. I was just wondering, since he's never done it before, how do I dance with him the first time. Do you think I should be the leader until we can work on it, or should I try to teach him to lead the first time? Any tips or ideas?? Thanks

My two friends and I compete in dance on a national level. Angel and I want to compete with duets in lyrical. our other friend Kyla doesn't like ballet or lyrical and isn't that good at it. How do we tell her that we don't want to dance with her. She gets easily put off.
