It could be called a pastime or hobby. But I think its more of an art rather than a sport. I would call it a cultural art or fine art. Good ? though.

Dancing could be a pastime or could be a sport. Actually, strictly speaking, it is performing art.
It depends on how much you dance and how you view yourself. If you dance at clubs and parties hust for fun - it is probably pastime. If you dance 2 hours a day to make your legs go higher, your leaps longer and so on - then yeah, its a sport to you. But if you do all the above with a bigger purpose in mind - then it's art.

Is biking a sport? Some people don't consider Lance Armstrong a true athlete because he is bikes. I personally thinh a sport pits individuals against each other in a competitive environment. So if the dancers be judged and compete against another dancer; then it should be considered a sport.
Just like ice skating at the Olympics.

It's not considered a sport, it's considered an art. Being a dancer though I think it should definitely be considered a sport since most dancers(and I don't mean the people who take classes like once a week)work a lot harder then people who are considered 'athletes'.

Of course dance is a sport. If you were to take a dance class yourself you would realize how much work, strength and muscle is involved in dancing. It isn't as effortless as it looks (or is supposed to.) Dancers created Pilates to help others tone their bodies as we do as dancers. If you feel that Pilates is a athletic work out, you should take a dance class :o) Dancing is a blast and I would consider it a sport any day.

technically no, but being a dancer i know that dancing is just as/more phisical than most sports.you have to have strength, control, flexibility, and everything you need to play a sport. so for those who say its not, your right, but once you try it you'll know that it should be a sport.
although i do like that its called an art sometimes, because art is beautiful and dancing (if done properly) is definately beautiful

it is the only sport that is an art form.
Not only is it beautiful and expressive, but dancers compete for the best technique, style, costumes, theme, music, etc. Its a lot of hard work.
