I have choreographed a dance that involves wearing a long dress for part of it. The dance is modern so their is a lot of floor work. I am used to wearing pants while dancing and am worried about tripping, and or tearing the dress. The dress hits approximately an inch above my ankles.

I know people have said some negative things about Mia Michaels but the dance that she choreographed last night representing her and her dad was the most brilliant thing I've ever seen in my life....I can't get that dance out of my head and right now I can't watch it. It makes me cry. It was so beautiful. Does anyone else have an opinion about it......

Have any of you dancers been pressured by your teachers to lose weight? Lots of girls, including myself, have eating disorders at my studio in my competition line, because the thinnest girls are always front row center...but they're very hypocritical because once they notice you've lost weight, they talk to you about it and tell you that you need to be careful etc...sound like a lose : lose situation to you?

I am creating a video directory of every dance style from around the world known to man.

I have an expanding category list of 440+ styles of dances and am collecting and cataloging, via the web, video coverage (performances, instructional, commentaries and creative displays) of the various dance styles, to include their variations, with the help of the World Wide Web community.

It is a work in progress (in other words still collecting and cataloging thousands of videos) but the project is already up and running.

Does anyone know of anyone doing something similar to this on this large of scale?

And I wanted to know if stripping is a problem? Because some people look at me funny when they ask me where I work...I'm a rather attractive black female just trying to make it through college..I don't plan to make a carreer out of this but stripping pay my bills but I hate getting looked at the wrong way and people just judge me from this

i like this guy and he's a really great dancer (does latin dance - salsa merenge etc). Problem is i don't dance - i can solo dance and a bit of a box step & i love it but i've never learnt properly and i'm a terribly slow learner when it comes to doing anything that requires coordination (i'm a bit of a clutz). is my lack of coordination a huge turn off to someone who loves to dance or will he be impressed with my willingness to learn (once i get over the initial shyness and hesitation)?

With this info please tell me a dance that I might have fun with and be able to catch on fairly quick. If you can, describe the type of dance you suggested. I am a fourteen year old girl. I am a gymnast. I can do splits, leaps, turns, and jumps. I can tumble but I don't think you really flip in dance. I can chasse. So what do you think?

Okay I'm in a ballroom Team and I was wondering if people could give me a good list of stuff to wear to it.

Like I don't want to wear jeens because they aren't easy to move in and I have really white legs so I don't want to wear shots even though they do help me move well and I don't want slacks that look like Sunday best, like dorky and FYI it's a highschool dance team so yeah.... I mean maybe if I got some slacks that I could move in well ya know?

also what shirts are good, I have just been wearing a colored tee mostly but hey IDK if that was a good idea or what.

anyway Yeah....

My dance teacher always tells me that I need to straighten my knees more but they are completely flat in the back and front and hurt like crazy. I heard though that to be a professional dancer you should have a 130 degree angle (your knee is so straightened that it goes backward a little). Is this true? Wouldn't your knees snap in half?

I have been dancing for 15 years and I know the normal ballerina body type. I'm thin, but definitly not tall. (5 feet to be exact). I am hoping to become a ballerina. I am a dance major at the University of Alabama. This is my life long dream, and I know I am good enough to make it, so is height THAT much of a factor?
