Okay I'm in a ballroom Team and I was wondering if people could give me a good list of stuff to wear to it.

Like I don't want to wear jeens because they aren't easy to move in and I have really white legs so I don't want to wear shots even though they do help me move well and I don't want slacks that look like Sunday best, like dorky and FYI it's a highschool dance team so yeah.... I mean maybe if I got some slacks that I could move in well ya know?

also what shirts are good, I have just been wearing a colored tee mostly but hey IDK if that was a good idea or what.

anyway Yeah....

I will tell you what I do, I wear shorts with elastic band and a loose t shirt to practice and rehearsals. I use the show or competition shoes during practice because each pair of shoes feel a little different to me and I don't like the distraction of something feeling different during a show. I don't care how mis matched I look because I am to focused to care less how bizarre I look. I know snowflake would laugh at me for wearing shorts and dance shoes but what the heck, I'm there to practice not fashion. BTW, my choreographer wears shorts and dance shoes to practice as well and encourages it.

Buy practice pants. They are like Latin pants but a little less "big deal" looking, not as fitted at the top and they are cheaper, too. They are stretchy and they produce the correct lines. You want your instructor to be able to see what your knees are doing. You can wear them at competitions, if you're plannign to compete or perform they will do just fine for your first year or two.
If you can't afford practice pants you can buy dress pants, but keep in mind they won't last. I think it's more cost-efficient to buy practice pants. Check out local dance storer or local vendors. This site will give you an idea what do they look like, but whatever they have is designer's stuff, it's expensive. http://www.dancesport.uk.com

As for shirts - most guys tend to wear dark or black t-shirts, preferrably your size not 2 sizes larger. If you're strictly Standard you might want to wear normal dress shirt (the one you can throw in a washer without much regret).

Jeans or slacks are not a good idea - jeans won't let you move, slacks will hide your movement. A guy in shorts and in ballroom shoes is the stupidest look I ever saw, LOL. You're right, don't wear it like that.
Yeah, it's just for practice, but it is adviseable to wear clothes that produces the same lines as your competition clothes. It will help your visual self-criticism. That's why Standard ladies wear long skirts even for practice, Latin ladies wear short skirts and men wear long pants.

as many pros do, i suggest you wear character shoes for ballroom classes and tall (like 2 1/2 to 3 inches) heeled, opentoe shoes. go to any ballroom dancing website and they will give u links and stuff like that to browse for latin shoes. as for the dancewear, wearing a tank top and yoga pants are fine, but NO JEANS!!!!! whatever will absorb sweat and that is comfortable for u to dance in will work. for dances like the mambo or the paso doable, you should wear a practice skirt.

pants for practising are the best
jeans are so umcomfortable and you won't be able to -move freely with them
shorts are OK for practising but only for practsing.
as shirt, black is my favourite on guys but it could be also white
