you should have a chance. i have no idea who clara is. BUT-- about 8 years ago i went to NYC and saw beauty and the beast on broadway. You know who played Belle? (who by the way is supposed to be white) It was Tonie Braxton, an african american woman. Great singer and actress. And to me it didnt make a difference what color she was, she did a great job.

OF COURSE!!! Unless the instructer is racist and if they are then your to good to dance for them anyway. At the studio I teach at we've had clara's of all kids, 8-years, 18-years, African American, big, small anything you can think...then again this is a local dance studio.

an African American has just as much of a chance of getting the role of Clara just as much as anyone else. Its your technique, skill, dedication, and willingness of you wanting the part that people are looking for when they decide who is who for a production.

Of course there is...unless the casting dirctor is racist. Casting should be color blind and go the best dancer for the part. The last Nutcracker I was in had an amazing black girl cast as Clara! Just be on pointe(lol) and you'll get it! :D
