Don't try learning from a DVD!!!
There are tons of places in and around LA to learn bellydance.
try looking on the following sites for directory listings
http://www.middleeasterndance.net
http://www.shira.net
http://www.bhuz.com
There are many more bellydance directories out there but these are some of the more extensive listings. You may also try to google the keywords "bellydance" and "Los Angeles" together to find local instructors websites. You may find listings for classes in the yellow pages ort community education flyers but the nice thing about looking online in places like bhuz is that you can ask for local recommendations and find out more about an instructor before signing up.
