No way! Of course you're not too old!!! You're never too old to start dance!! I just started last year (when I was 12) and my teacher put me with people around my age (although everyone else had been taking since when they were younger so I've had to work really hard to catch up, but now I'm doing just fine!). I have a friend who is just now starting ballet, and she's 15 (and will turn 16 in September!). I know of a lot of people have started waaaay later then that too. One of the main dancers in the NYC Ballet didn't start dancing until the age of 12, and look where she's at!
Go for it and try your best and most of all have fun!

What you say is true..........but no one is ever too old to do anything.....especially ballet. Hard work will be necessary especially if you want to make it a career.
A lot of dance (ballet) schools offer teen/adult beginner classes. try a few classes and see if you like it.
My friend started ballet when she was 15 and is now 17 and on pointe. Go for it :)

No, it’s not too late. You love it so much so trust yourself.
"Ballet dancers seem to ignore the law of gravity. They float through the air in long, slow leaps. They keep perfect balance while they spin like tops. During certain steps, their feet move so rapidly that the eye can hardly follow."
And you are in good shape, thin and that is really needed in ballet and I know you can do that.
Don't think the 4 year old doing ballet really well.
Think about yourself, always think positive.
"GOOD LUCK"

Some dance theatres have beginner classes for teens and adults. Go for it, you have nothing to lose and alot to gain.
By the way, I've been taking ballet since I was five, I still suck, you'll probably be better than me

at my dance academy you'd be too old. Because the classes w/ 14 year olds all dance en pointe, and you need to build up to that strength. I used to dance ballet but i quit because I was getting busy and I didn't wanna do pointe... plus I'm not really a ballet person. I only do tap now. I really enjoyed jazz and modern, do you like those? I suggest taking modern, since tap has difficult feet and from modern you can build into jazz. Plus modern is kinda like ballet, but w/ out the structure.

Hey- I am an adult - after my dad died I decided life was too short not to try new things. I took ballet and loved it.
Go for it. You're never too old.
(by the way - my dad got his degree at 55. he was my inspiration!) And my daughter (also 14) danced until 5th grade. In eighth grade, she wanted to go back to it. She did. Dance team tryouts were in April. She made it! If she didn't go back to try it - she wouldn't have made it.

Professional ballet dancers start from when they are very little girls or boys. You still can take it as a form of hobby and exercise. Probably yoga exercises in addition will help to soften your muscles and joints.

ask the ballet teacher at ur studio if u could start out in a beginner's class (w/the little kids) but just dont perform w/them...if u have done dancing before...it doesnt matter that it wasnt ballet...if u pick up stuff really easily then u could b out of that beginner's class and in one w/ppl in ur age group in no time...i started when i was 11 and i did that exact thing...and i know alot of other ppl that did that too at my studio...i even know a girl that performed in the little kid's class bcuz she didnt care wut ppl thought...so if u just love performing 2 and u dont care that ppl know that ur in a little kid's class then more power to you and it will really show dedication to ur teacher...have fun!!!
