become a performing/competitive/professional dancer?
And I am talking age wise...

I have noticed on this section of the yahoo answers that certain people want to become one of the above and then they mention their age and some of the answers suggest that its a bit too late.
I am 15 but i have been dancing to Ballroom, latin and hip hop for about a year. I did some all girl dance groups when I was younger but then I stopped and I grew up around a lot of Tejano Mexican dancing. I am currently a student at a dance studio in Tempe AZ.. but I am thinking about switching to another studio.

so in your opinion when is it "too late"?

I am a ballroom dancer and this really lovely lady asked me to help develop and perform a salsa routine with her. I am an intermediate dance student and she is a new but incredibly talented dancer, not to mention that she is taking the entire studio by storm. Granted that there are better or far more advanced students at the studio, she chose me (I don't know if she had asked other guys at the studio to do this prior to asking me, but because she is very sweet and very attractive, they must have been morons to have turned her down, my guess is that she didn't asked anybody else). The reason I accepted is because I am extremely attracted to her. Could this possibly mean that she is interested in pursuing something more? Any ideas on how to handle this situation?

Just curious, is it a good workout, good fun, or both? They're started a club up here at my university and I've joined for fun (they teach as well as compete). Dancers' advice and answers always welcome.

I'm 24. I love to go out hear live music, and have a few cocktails. I'll go to a reggae bar, bluegrass, techno, hip hop, whatever, but one thing is the same in every place.

People my age do not know how to dance.

Aside from the vague grinding and thrusting made popular by MTV, there's not a lot going on. I'm no professional, but i move to the music, listen to it, and like to have a little space to work with, and it seems impossibly out if place. Should I want to dance with a pretty girl it's usually even worse. her rump goes directly to my crotch and I'm suppose to.... what? bump it? (don't get me wrong, me love the ladies)

i don't expect a waltz, but this sloppy crowd grunting and thrusting is pitiful and boring. so what's up?

Lately i saw some real cool dancing on Youtube by Michael Jackson and some other break-dancing. I thought that tap dancing and belly-dances were sufficient to make a man want to get up from his seat until i see more exciting forms.
I m no dancer but m just amazed that people can create great musical beats and body movements. Do you know of any other forms that keep you on your toes? Do you believe that singers with good dancing moves will be very successful who will draw huge crowds?

I just bought my first pair of tap shoes for a beginning tap class. They are leather Bloch "Mary Jane" shoes with techno taps. What are some do's and don'ts for tap shoe maintenance? What about practising as I don't have a decent floor to really practice on? Would practising some of the steps be okay just wearing socks on some carpet (to prevent slipping on my hardwood floor)?

Thanks! I'm excited about taking the class!

Like at mys chools wen the girls and guys grind I'm always lost cuz I don't really think its a type of dance and refuse to rub my *** on any guys dick . Thats just sick. Does it really count as dancing or is it just an excuse to get sexual?

There is a salsa bar close to where I live (in Germany) and I want to know if you can dance to this music alone, or do you have to have a partner?

What are some colleges/universities with good dance programs? I live in Michigan so any school near there would be best. I've been dancing for 11 years so I don't think auditioning is a problem. Another thing, most colleges don't have great tap programs. Are there any schools out there for advanced tappers?

Its a PERFORMING ART ... not a SPORT. Why do people think its a sport? It doesnt have any sport like qualities unless you compete on a dance team.. then i can see it as a sport. But real dancing like performing like i have been doing since i was 4 .. is not a sport. Yeah it takes hard work and stuff but how does that make it a sport? Even my dance teacher said its not a sprt! do explain people that think otherwise..

I love dancing. I enjoy hip hop, r & b, and i want to learn breakdancing but, i feel like i cant go further into it because of a few things. I only learn how to dance hip hop and stuff online. I dont got friends who i can learn from, i also dont got money for dance classes because i am a bit poor. Also, in my high school we dont have dance. I feel like dancing to me is hopeless. I dont want to learn online because its hard to learn it that way. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!
