Whatever makes them feel comfortable, that is the way I see it and why I am barefoot when I dance, that and I can keep my balance a lot easier. It might be less painful if they were not really that good at dancing if they removed their shoes, and less slippery of they removed their socks as well.

My boyfriend and I do ballroom dancing, and it's actually harder to dance barefoot. You don't glide across the floor like you're supposed to. If we're practicing moves in the living room and just working on getting our bodies to turn properly, then we might do it barefoot, but we prefer to be in our ballroom shoes.

I am always barefoot but I think this should be everyone's own choice; I'd only want my partner to be barefoot if *he* preferred it that way.

I am not much of a dancer. But if I was barefoot I would like my partner to be as well. Then it wouldn't hurt if he stepped on my toes.

depends what kind of dancing you are doing...
if its ballroom or latin then i find it almost impossible to do stuff that i do at my dance studio without heels...even more impossible without shoes!!!
but at my quinceanera I was the one who barefoot dancing with my partner!! he said he felt bad because he kept stepping on me...but i guess it didnt really matter then.
BUt i would rather have shoes on =]
