well firstly, im glad you are interested in dance, not many guys are into it, so good for you. you can't go wrong with joining a local dance studio, you will be out numbered by girls, but if your fifteen, that shouldn't be a problem for you. lol. talk to the teacher, even if you just call the studio, they can tell you what type of dance would be good for you based on your interests. they may also reccomend ballet for tecnique, which always helps in any kind of dance, even hip hop. if you work hard, they will give you a solo [an individual dance], also, if you want to do a duet, you just have to ask and find a partner if you aren't assigned one, tap duets are always alot of fun, you can do cannons or repeats, one person can do something and challenge you and you respond with another step, all choreographed to music, its alot of fun and it always interests an audience. hip hop is also a great way for a guy to dance. if you are interested in ballet... go for it, if you get good enough, they will give you a pas de deux [ ballet duet with a guy and a girl, it usually has alot of lifts and, depending on the peice, romantic or intimate interaction and steps between the two dancers, or steps to represent anger... ect.]. it doesn't matter if you are a complete beginner... everyone has to start somewhere, just go in with your head high and a good attitiude and you can't go wrong. dance is alot of fun and i hope you succeed in it. good luck

There are oodles of ways to dance that can be taught and that are fulfilling.

Are you the athletic sort? Tall, skinny and muscular? If not in good shape, you will become so after several weeks of dance class, but it helps to be ready and willilng to get hot and sweaty and healthy.

If you want to go into ballet, be ready for snide remarks from uneducated people. Ballet is JUST as difficult as any sport and gives great satisfaction.

I am a clogger (a folksy kind of tap that is recreational mostly), but then i am over 50 and have taught dance for years. But classes in clogging are fun and not as taxing as ballet or other styles.

Online resources are your best bet for selecting a dance style that best fits you, and your checkbook.

Ballroom is wonderful style of dancing which requires partner work, but the partner must be as adept as you are.

In my 12 years of dance, I only knew one boy that did ballet. I looked up to him and he was a wonderful dancer. I think boys shy away from ballet because they don't think it's manly, but honestly, girls love men that do ballet. It's a dance you can do by yourself or with another person.

Pretty much any dance can be done with another person. If you wanted to the 'manly' road to dance you could try the aggressive form of hip hop called krumping. Krumping is ment to look like your fighting the other dancer or yourself.

There is also clogging, tap, modern, break dancing, lyrical, jazz, salsa, cha cha, rumba, belly dancing (there is also gothic belly dancing which can be done with swords and snakes), and much more. Look up some dance videos on youtube and find something you like. If you have any trouble you can email me at sliver.hummingbird@yahoo.com

Good luck!

look on the web and check out the "box step" also, you might think about the "twist" moves. These were old fav's back in the day, and you couldn't tell a beginner from a pro.

Breakdancing is loads of fun. It takes some work but you work with your talents (strength, flexibility, balance, ect) and utilize them and create cool moves out of them.
