My niece enjoys reading Enid Blyton but I'd like to get her some more modern authors. She has asked specifically for mystery books.

Alright, I want a GOOD book to read. A book like "The Child Called It" - David Pelzer. It was a child abuse story. I'm thirteen. But, I don't like any of those clique books. Too immature. A Walk to Remember was a good one too.I have school in like 2 days so I need a short book too. Maximum pages is 300. And, the words can't be super super duper small. Unless, you think it's a good book for me. I read books pretty fast if they're intresting. So yeah.

Did you like it? Or have you not read it yet?

I last bought "The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil" by George Saunders (very funny and dry) and "The Master and Margarita" (loved it).

And you?

I tend to fall into the information overload catergory when describing a setting. It's like I'm fascinated with describing the visual details of the place, its society, or the history of the place I'm writing about, regardless of whether the reader cares. How can I train myself focus more on character development, and not just descriptive worlds and complicated plots (at the cost of not having developed characters?)

I just finished "Charmed Thirds" by Megan McCafferty, and like these kind of novels. But I've also read Stephen King and Nicholas Sparks. Open to all suggestions.

Who do you think are the most overrated authors out there?
For me, they are:

Nicholas Sparks: Ugh, his books are sappy, cheesy, and so cliche! Not to mention they all have some variation of the same plotline!

Sarah Dessen: Same as Mr. Sparks: All cliche, all cheesy, all have the same variation of the same plotline.

Stephanie Meyer: These books are so...ugh. Bella Swan has to be the worst main character I've ever read.

Lisi Harrison (The Clique): Who likes these books? They are SO badly written it's disgusting.

There. My rant is over :)

It's a hopefully to-be novel about four girls going to an elite school for the arts. (A writer, an actress, a singer, and a dancer.) They all have their own problems, including love trianlges, eating disorders, a suicidal and eventually homicidal classmate, as well as a number of other more minor things.

Well, that being said, I need a title. Desperately. I would appreciate any help that can be offerred.
