To Kill a Mocking Bird is a really good book with some very well developed characters and a tight storyline.
Of Mice and Men is really engaging . Steinbeck is a good read.
Catcher in the Rye was a dull, worthless book that should not be forced on anyone. The written equivalent of slow death by boredom. When you finish reading the book, have your teacher arrested for stealing that part of your life.

Of Mice and Men was pretty good. The first time I read it I loved it, but the second time not so. Mockingbird I read so long ago I don't even remember. Catcher in the Rye is one of the great ones--although actually the first time I read it I hated the ending. Now I love it--and everything about the book.

Of Mice and Men might be a bit boring, but It will get better once you get into it - Steinbeck always does. To Kill A Mockingbird is okay, but the Catcher In The Rye is fantastic - I love that book so much!!!

I'm not a reader but I had to read all 3 too. But I have to say Of Mice and Men and Catcher and the Rye are my all time favorites. Give it a chance. Coming from a none reader, they are classics for a reason. Watch the move of Mice and Men. Great Movie. Might inspire you to read the book. Plus its a short reading.

Wow, brings back high school memories. Hehe. Anway, I've read Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men and Harper Lee's Mockingbird when I was in 10th grade and Salinger's Catcher in the Rye during my junior year. Of Mice and Men was okay, it's a great introduction if you're going to read Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden in the future, Steinbeck's writing was superb, particularly his social commentaries.
To Kill a Mockingbird - was pretty good book, profound even. Dealt with injustice and America's race relation, particularly in the South,
Catcher in the Rye - Classic, it was fitting that it was a required reading in high school. It's hard not to relate and sympathyze with Holden, the main character, because most of us experience that teenage angst, isolation, etc. Salinger's a genius.

Of Mice and Men by John Steinback - I really liked it. Lennie and George were really good friends because George looked out for Lennie in the best of times and the very very worst of times. It makes you appreciate what lengths people will go to for each other.
To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee - I watched the movie, read the book and listened to the book on tape. It gives you a look into the past, through the eyes of a little girl. She might have been young, but her wisdom saw through the years. I absolutely loved that book, with a passion. The house that people would go to the other side of the street to pass by, the tree house, how 'scout' and her brother jem and their friend dill would go over to boo radley's house and dare each other to go up on his porch and touch the door..look inside the house to catch a glimpse of him. It really brought up the depression era, and how people were still so prejudice against blacks.
The Catcher and the Rye - Amazing..just takes you into this boys mind. Lots of language and vularity, but such a good read.
I loved all these books. I hope you will too, maybe if not now, then later in life, as you grow, you will appreciate them. Personally I loved to read, so it was no sweat for me. Good luck!

I had to read of mice and Men when I was in school 31 years ago. I remember I was really disappointed in the ending. I suppose that was the main point of what they were trying to convey. Yes I found it a bit boring and really sad.
I never read to kill a mocking bird but have watched the old movie. Sad but a much better ending.
