in writing first person, ive noticed there can be no fear of death. the reader can never be worried that the main character will die, since if he/she did, they wouldnt be telling the story. this takes alot of the ability to create suspense away... any thoughts?

I had this book maybe 20 years ago and would like to get another copy to give to another person. It was explicit and I believe a doctor wrote it. I had a copy loaned it to a friend and haven't seen a copy since.

I have a book report coming up in English and I was planning on doing it on the book "The Poisonwood Bible". For those of you have read it, do you think it's a good idea? I am almost finished, and I'm enjoying it. If it isn't such a good idea, what book do you recommend? (By the way, I am a high school Freshman)

Okay, its about a princess who can change things with her mind. In the beginning of the book she's looking in the mirror and suddenly a bunch of different colored puppy's start appearing. She also can picture a guy in her head who is a prince. The prince can talk to and read other people's minds. The princess ends up creating a new world and she creates someone that is herself. Its a really good book but i can't think of the title. All i know is that it has something to do with TIME. Please help me. i would really apprecitate a title. thank you.

I read it when I was a kid (we're talking 30 years ago). It was about a brother and sister that run away from home. I don't remember why. Anyway, they end up in a town where I think their family might have a cabin or where they spend summers or something like that. I remember they keep all their stuff in garbage bags including bread and peanut butter and milk. They make some extra money by cleaning for an elderly lady in town and they stay on an island. The description of the shelter they build is very descriptive; they dig a hole and fill it with pine needles, etc. There are some other kids that visit the island, but they don't know the brother and sister are runaways. In the end, they get caught, but the old lady takes them in. I think the last line is her saying that they still have some cleaning to do for her. Sound familiar to anyone?

Just peed the dog and looked up to the stars... such a lovely sky... I felt a poem coming on... so I'm sharing... since i'm all alone.

Somewhere in this universe
There's a soul that matches mine
Somewhere in this universe
We're linked, to end of time

Somewhere in this universe
We'll set ourselves both free
Then somewhere in this universe
We'll meet, he, yes he, and me

Your turn:-)

Think of special agents from Matrix - I need some bad guys to be chasing after my protagonist. They can't be federal agents because it's too obvious. Tell me the most disgusting characters/people/professions that you can imagine. What people do you fear the most?

I've been accused of plagiarism because I did not put quotes around a PARAPHRASE by my teacher. There is significant evidence that I did not attempt to cheat because I cited the source after my paraphrase..

In the Journal of American Folklore, calls Bluegrass a “hillbilly” musical style that has mixes of other genres in as well (Journal of American Folklore).

What can I do? What are my rights if i'm accused but I by no means was trying to because it's evident that I cited everything...If I was really trying to cheat why would I even cite it? I'm angry by this and I want to know what my rights are as a student!

I am just starting to write Christian children's books and at this point I just want to get copies into the hands of little neighborhood friends, might use my own photos etc. It's not about making money yet, but I also wouldn't want someone else to steal the ideas. I am just curious of the levels of publishing books, or making books to give out a message. So I guess I'm asking if I can somehow publish my own book for the time being and do I need to copyright it somehow ? I know I could use my local copy shop and the bind with plastic rings etc, but what would be my steps up from there ? serious answer only, don't tell me God can do it etc. thanks

I like almost any genra of books except really crazy science fiction (i.e. aliens, just plain wierd), strictly adult romance (too mature for my tast). But I do love diverse books from Dean Koontz to Jodi Piccoult. But any suggestions would be nice.
