Just peed the dog and looked up to the stars... such a lovely sky... I felt a poem coming on... so I'm sharing... since i'm all alone.

Somewhere in this universe
There's a soul that matches mine
Somewhere in this universe
We're linked, to end of time

Somewhere in this universe
We'll set ourselves both free
Then somewhere in this universe
We'll meet, he, yes he, and me

Your turn:-)

She is my smile, my joy, my love
My sweet angel from up above
Of strength, of beauty and of grace
I see heaven in her smiling face
Perfection lives in every inch and line
She is where earth and heaven intertwine
I live for the warmth found in her embrace
And die when I see sadness upon her face

Really want to send you an answer but am stuck for choice. Hart Crane's 'My Grandmother's Love Letters' is wonderful, so is Dom Moraes' 'Letter to my Mother', as is anything by Ntozake Shange. Not poetry precisely but Sam Shepard's piece called 'Rhythm' is brilliant - also read 'Sleeping at the Wheel'. Philip Larkin's 'Aubade'. Shelley's poem on the death of Keats. Neil Astley's books 'Staying Alive' and 'Being Alive'. I love poetry. My list is endless. Will send you one.

My Love
I loved you yesterday
I love you today
I will love you tomorrow
And when my tomorrows are over
And I am no more
Then still shall I love you

So when you feel a gentle breeze upon your cheek
Then you will know that I have kissed you
And when you feel a single drop of rain upon your lips
Then you will know that I have shed a tear
That I cannot reach out to touch you
So shall it be until the day you join me
Once more to be my friend--my wife--my love
Ad infinitum

Our Universe may be big and wide,
but neither space nor time can divide.
A bond like the Sea with the Sky.
Seeking your smile and that twinkle in your eye,
wishing upon each star, that you are by my side.
Together,we shall be.
Let THE TRUTH, set us free.

I try so hard to understand,
but it all seems so wrong.
Come here, take my hand,
and sing with me this song.

Don't cry and don't scream,
just hold onto your seat.
We are the perfect team,
that you could ever meet!

yup, it makes no sense, but it's poetry...

Just need be me
How simple that sounds
But life has a way
Of taking bits slowly away
if you let it
He needs, she needs ,they need
So hold on tight and do let go
Of the real person you are,
the person you know
I just need to be me.

in this place,other than
this
we'd wake up smiling
not frowning and drowning
but facing the sun
and the cloudy stars
that set our souls
scarred but still smiling
in this world of peace

When you tell us that you "Just peed the dog," it actually states (gramatically) that YOU peed ON the dog! Really bad grammar! The poem is the usual angst found on Yahoo.

Love
love is like a lizard
it raps it tail around
your neck and
nibbles at your gizzard

Some where in this universe
She's waiting for my touch
Some where in this universe
She is longing for me so much

Some where in this universe
I'l search for all of time
Some where in this universe
I'l find that girl of mine
