OK this is gonna sound strange.

I think Thomas Harris is a great talent in literature, and Silence of the Lambs was a work of art as a film. I LOVED it and have since followed the stories. However, the book Hannibal lost me halfway after the guy got eaten by the pigs, and the movie actually made me throw up when Lecter ate the guy's brain. I hate being startled, and I hate gore in the movies. Neither was really a big deal in Silence, it was just a real twisted story to unravel.

So anyway, I have lost interest in finding out all these things by myself because it is just too intense for me. But I am still very interested in the story, especially what made Lecter so crazy...which coincidentally, is the latest installment of the story...Hannibal Rising.

So I am wondering if anyone who read the book will just tell me what happens so I don't have to go through the torture of finding out on my own.

I'm not saying this just because I am too lazy to read it, and this isn't homework

I am writing a short story and I want a gory death for my first death. I need ideas.

Here is the environment: (Don't ask why these people are here...im not giving the whole story)

There is about 50 people in a small jail cell and are about to be put into a really horrible place. One girl is screaming that she needs to say goodbye to her family and my main character (from his point of view the story is told) is telling her to be quite. She doesn't and a security guard comes over and starts fighting verbally with the girl to tell her to stop screaming.

When she doesn't....he is going to kill her. The girl is in the cell on one side of the bars and the guard is on the other.

I was thinking of killing her somehow with the bars...but really really violently. Got any ideas?

(The story does not take place in America so it can be as "against the law" as possible).

I'm trying to write a story but I don't have any ideas. I'm not trying to publish a story I'd just like to write it for my own satisfaction. If you don't mind your idea being used, please tell me.

For example: 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. Or 0 11 10 9 8 7 6. Sometimes there's letters next to them like UNV (or WCD) 10 9 8 7 . Most of the books I own have these numbers, so I assume they must mean something, but what?

How did you like them? And what did you think of Sir Derek Jacobi's portrayal of Cadfael in the British film versions of the novels?

And if so, would you be willing to assist in some 11th grade level analysis of it?

I've noticed that paperback editions of some books (mostly fiction) are not released until after the hardcover version has been out for 6 months to a year? Is this based on hardcover sales? I'm thinking that more people would buy the paperback version instead of a big, bulky hardcover, so why not release them concurrently or sooner? I hate the wait!

it's on the poem "Advice to My Son" by Peter Meinke.
my teacher told me that would be a GREAT poem to do it on, but i have a hard time trying to understand the hidden meaning in poems. i get the general idea that the parent is trying to give advice to their son, but what is the "hidden" theme? i ESPECIALLY get thrown off my the last line. can someone please look up the poem online and help. it would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I like the present tense in writing. It has an 'artistic,' in 'development' appeal.

I mean I love Harry potter and of course many other books. But why don't others? Reading makes me feel, oh I'm not sure, kind of light. Tell me stories of why you love reading. And please keep it short I don't want to read paragraphs and paragraphs.Thanks.
