it's on the poem "Advice to My Son" by Peter Meinke.
my teacher told me that would be a GREAT poem to do it on, but i have a hard time trying to understand the hidden meaning in poems. i get the general idea that the parent is trying to give advice to their son, but what is the "hidden" theme? i ESPECIALLY get thrown off my the last line. can someone please look up the poem online and help. it would be greatly appreciated.

Always look for the beauty in life but also realize that beauty is fleeting and look ahead to what it may become in the future. Live your life to the fullest and don't worry about the small things that stop you. If you can survive those, you can make it through to happier times yet to come. Beauty and smooth sailing is one thing, but the human soul needs adversity to grow. Don't just look for the easy way through life. Work and plow through and you will find success at the end of the road. I think the last lines about the wine mean to always make sure you have the things that sustain you in life along with your beauty and happiness...but ALWAYS enjoy the beauty and happiness of life.

I hope this is somewhat helpful.

I haven't posted much poetry here because I lost my helmet and would like to keep my head protected from the rocks some people around here throw.

I think loofa above explainsit well. it is an allegorical poem with a moral lesson and it would be good if you can explain it.
try to identify the lesson and explain it with reference to the words and symbolisms of the poem.

"Always serve wine" ... life is hard and not always kind; but live it anyway. And live it with joy.
