Has anyone else read any of the 'Brother Cadfael' novels by Ellis Peters?

How did you like them? And what did you think of Sir Derek Jacobi's portrayal of Cadfael in the British film versions of the novels?

Yay! I used to read them as a teenager, it's been a while since then but I remember thoroughly enjoying them. Lots of murder and intrigue only without the gore and all in medieval times. In fact I started reading them because of Derek Jacobi's portrayal. I was addicted to mystery shows as a kid, and I remember a particular summer where there was a marathon of the Cadfael series on CBC late one Saturday night.
