This story was part of a tenth grade english class in Canada back in 1985. The main character was a boy/young man who had telepathic power that he had to hide. He communicated with a 'friend' who was otherwise unkown to him.

The grandmother had a special pot or bowl that when she said a certain phrase it would make rice or pasta(can't remember which one, I think rice) then she would say another phrase when there was enough. One day when the grandmother lefto run some errands the little girl said the magic phrase to turn it on and because she didn't know that phrase to turn it off the whole town got filled with rice/pasta. Any clue of what the title to this book is?

I'm been an avid Harry potter reader for about 6-7 years. Its funny, I would think that my likes would have changed by now, and I would stop liking it but I haven't. What do you think makes the story so good and/or any insight into the final book?

I'm 13 yrs. old and if there is anthing my friends give me credit for, I can come up with some really scary stories. I've scared a lot of people. I have some really good stories that, in my head, or when I tell them to people, make a really good book. I dictate stories to people, and some of the stories are actually in chapters and I tell them as if I were reading a book. But, when I try to write them, I can't. The words don't come out right on paper. The story is never as good. What I don't understand is that I have a really good grade in English when it comes to writing. I allways get some of the top scores on my essays. So why can't I write one of my stories on paper. Eny suggestions.
(Please don't give me a bunch of crap on my spelling, I allready know that I can't spell)

You'll often be told that the Bible is the best-selling book ever written, but is this true? I'm not here to talk about the Bible or whether it's true, I just want to know if the Bible is the best-selling book ever, and if it isn't, which book is?

First of all, this is a broad claim. By whose numbers is the Bible number 1? Is it on the New York Times bestseller list? Does Amazon keep tabs on this? Are the Gideons inflating the sales numbers? I was kidding about that last one, but this statement raises a lot of questions.

Who was the first to make this claim and why did they say it? Was it meant to be just an off-handed comment that was mixed up and taken literally, or do more copies of the Bible sell than any other book? And in what countries (if any) is this true? And when was this research done? And who carried it out?

Any help at all you have to offer is appreciated, but try to stay on topic, y'all.

I read a book in high school, and can't remember the name of it. It's a true story about a woman who loses her leg as a child in a car accident, and it goes into detail about her life as an amputee. Some of the details are fuzzy, but I can remember that she was riding her bicycle when she was hit by a car, and as she grew older she tried several kinds of prosthetic legs, but found her wooden leg was most comfortable. It's a great book, and would like to suggest it to a young friend of mine looking for a good true story.

I am an english major trying to start a collection of my favorite Shakespeare plays. I want to get each play individually, not in one big book. Can anyone recommend a series which is well annoted? So far the three editions that I am considering are Folger, Arden, or Oxford. If anyone has any advice or experience about which edition is best, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you :-)
