Hmmm...

The Collected Poetry of Sara Teasdale

or

Tunnel In The Sky, by Robert Heinlein

Each of these books describes great achievements and joy, and also tragedy and heartache. Each of them shows ways to face the world and your own future in spite of, or because of, the things life throws at you.

The best book I've read was Running with Scissors by Augustin Burroughs. It's a very tawdry Memoir about this authors bizarre childhood. It had me rolling on the ground at some points and checking over my shoulder at other points to make sure no one could see the dirty things I was reading.
I was pleased to see they made it into a movie. Unfortunately the director couldn't quite copy Burroughs witty humor on the big screen. I've read all his books.

I enjoy a great many books, such as "Huckleberry Finn" and "Farenheit 451". I read a good deal, and love fantasy novels (Harry Potter, Eragon, Chronicles of Narnia, etc.) but, I'd have to say the story that comes to mine when I think of "favorites" would have to be "Yertle the Turtle" by Dr. Seuss. This was the book that really got the ball rolling for me. Reading is one of my favorite things, and Yertle was the first book I remember reading by myself (to the best of my knowlege - my memory has gotten a bit fuzzy over the years LOL). Not to mention (as I grew older I discovered this) Seuss (Theodore Giesel) uses this story as a jab at Hitler and Stalin.
I truly enjoy this book, not only because it helped me learn to read, but I now read it to my children - making it a positive memory for them to carry into adulthood.

By far, THE BEST AND THE GREATEST BOOK for me is of course, J. K. Rowling's HARRY POTTER SERIES. It is the best! Nothing compares!

I particularly like Book 5 (HP & the Order of the Phoenix) and Book 6 (HP & the Half-Blood Prince) because at some point, I can relate myself with what Harry feels. In book 5, Harry was hugged by Mrs. Weasly after he saved Mr. Weasly from the snake in his dream. In it, Harry felt the warmth of a mother's hug and she remembers that she longs for her mother. In my part, my mother works abroad (in Hong Kong; I'm in the Philippines) and I also miss her hug. Tears instantly fell from my eyes. I felt pity on Harry because he can no longer hug nor kiss nor be praised by her mother because Lily Potter is dead already. I know that it must be really hard for not to even have longer bonding with her mother because she was killed even before Harry became aware of his environment.

In book six, however, I also wept after Albus Dumbledore died. It's really painstaiking if I put my shoes to Harry. Dumbledore is his only strength and became a father to him after the death of his parents but fate chose to take the latter away from him. Now, that is really hard to imagine. Wow...

Aside from all these, I really admire Rowling's flow of story from the first book up to the most recent. It seems like it all have been written in a single day because you will not be lost and really, it is page-turning. You don;t want to put it down once you started reading.

No doubt why Book six is considered (as of now) the fastest selling book of all time (9 million copies sold in 24 hours after its publication in July 2005! - 105 books sold per second in the first hour it was published. Another no doubt that the series, as of now is considered 4th best selling book of all time (1st - The Holy Bible; 2nd Mao Zedong's book; 3rd Pilgrim's Progress) selling 300 million copies and counting. It outdone the muslim's Qur'an placing it only at number 5. (I am not against the holy book of the Islam; I am merely presenting the facts).

I URGE you to read HARRY POTTER SERIES too!! You will love it!

Second to Harry Potter series is Dan Brown's THE DA VINCI CODE. It's thrilling, suspenseful and hionestly, it made me do my own research about the conspiracy and made me dream to become a religion historian someday! Because of the novel, I became eager to find out things about Jesus Christ and how the Christian religion came into being. Now, I have known more things and is still trying to know more. Add also Brown's Angel's and Demons...

Try also reading Holes by Louis Sachar and The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. You will crave for more!

For more facts about what I said on the Harry Potter series and it's place on the best seller's list, try searching HARRY POTTER on the source below.
