fifty years ago his mother was at school.
maybe they were down on money and so they used a second hand book or in other words, the book his mother used at school.
in the book basically near the end, hermonie says that she found out more about snapes mother eillen (dont know how to spell it) prince married another man which was last name Snape and he was a muggle. hence, it works out. full blood mother with the last name prince and muggle father. he then names himself 'the half-blood prince'.

happy new year 2oo7

The trailer is unquestionably stunning, i comprehend! it is the perfect Harry Potter trailer I even have ever considered, if no longer the perfect trailer. It makes me so excited, yet extra disillusioned the action picture became moved. (To think of, it would have come out so quickly!) The Ron Weasley/Lavendar Brown kiss gave me the impact it does no longer be a cheesy as i presumed, the final scene the place Hermione Granger hits Harry Potter enable me comprehend there will be some humour, I have been given to be sure that Draco Malfoy has an excellent eviler part we are able to be sure, and so plenty extra! As for this "this 365 days" section, i do no longer comprehend. many all and sundry is thinking approximately that. i'm merely hoping it wasn't a mistake!

Yes. the book DID belong to Snape's mom. She must have passed it down to him, and so everything happened. I'm sure that it was hard to grasp the first time, but seeing that I've read the book more than once, I can see that that's a moderately important piece of information. I hope it helps!

It said in the book that the original owner of the book was Eileen Prince who later married a muggle named Snape. Eileen was Snapes mother and she gave him her book second hand. Snape cam up with the nickname the Half-blood Prince because he was half a prince (His mothers maiden name) and thas where he got his magical power...he was proud to be half a prince. Thats how the book was older than Snape.

Yup this was a mystery but Hermione says in the book that the book once belonged to Snape's mother. If you don't buy this it could have been second hand.

One possible answer is that Snape got the book used and second hand-in the memories Harry saw of him he appeared to be rather ragged and poor. This could be one answer to this puzzling question. It may be revealed in the 7th book, though. Hopefully J. K. Rowling will tell us! Hope it helps,

P.S. To get more answers you may want to try not using 'chatspeak', no offense of course, but it was somewhat hard to understand. :-)

The book was originally from Snape's mother, Eileen Prince. Severus Snape is the one who made the notes, but he had the book from his mother. Her name is how he came by the name 'halfblood prince'; his mother was a witch whose name was Prince, then she married a Muggle called Tobias Snape, and Severus Snape was thus a halfblood, using his mother's maiden name plus the 'halfblood' tag. I guess school books don't change near as much at Hogwarts as at Muggle schools; most Muggles aren't using school books their parents used!
