why do accidents happen even to people who believe in god?

I have the entire storyline planned but there is one part to the storyline that I can not think of. If you were to fall in love with someone, but see something that makes you hate him what would it be? I don't want him to sleep with anyone else, because he wouldn't do that. Any ideas?
