I have the entire storyline planned but there is one part to the storyline that I can not think of. If you were to fall in love with someone, but see something that makes you hate him what would it be? I don't want him to sleep with anyone else, because he wouldn't do that. Any ideas? Hope someone can help me.

i write as well, and i know how you feel. a good example is; imagine the boy starts to realize his feelings for the girl and freaks being afraid she would turn him down. at the same time she is falling for him and they don't know about each others feelings. so he tries to push her away, make her hate him. in the end she cant stand her feelings and cries to him. just an idea?

Maybe she could see him watching another group of guys do something she thinks is completely morally wrong (like raping a girl or abusing a child/animal). He might not join in, but she cannot stand that he just did nothing while they did what they did. Then again, she did nothing too, even though it was harder for her because she is a woman and could be hurt more easily by the other men.

Since your story is set in 1900, one branch of thought could be The lady finds out that
#1 he was a slave owner before the war.
#2 he was a carpet bagger after the war and he defrauded a lot of people including this ladys father who comitted suicide because of the loss.
#3She finds out he is the Grand dragon of the KKK.
#4 same as above, but she is afraid that he won't marry her because she is part *****. and she has been hiding that from him.
#5 SAME AS #3 AND #4 but she is part ***** because her Grand mother was raped by a slave that was owned by this man's father.

A short temper. In 1900, maybe he has a bastard child from a previous relationship. That would be scandalous and would give most women pause about being with him!

Arrogance. Condescension. Womanizing. Perversion. Fraudulence.
Pick a description above that would describe best about the character you've created and extrapolate from there.
Hope I've been helpful.

He refuses to assist someone in need. Is physically abusive. Speaks badly of someone I admire. Puts people down. Treats his staff badly. Turns family away. Doesn't give women any consideration/is rude to them--doesn't hold doors, remove his hat, assist them down from their carriage, etc.

Hate him, and so leave him, or hate him, but cannot bear to leave him?
Former - cheats poor people out of their money, or say... knowingly does someone an injustice.
Latter - Has a nasty drinking habit, perhaps?

Maybe in the past he broke her sister's heart or something.
Or her sister like him and she can't bear to hurt her by flirting with him?
Family conflicts usually work pretty well. Good luck!

ok... i have to know if they're friends or not or she just admires him from afar. if they're friends she could hate him because there was something that they didn't agree on... clash of opinions or he makes fun of her every now and then. if they are not friends she notices that he's a snob. if they are already going out she could hate him because every time they go out on a date it gets cut off because he has to attend to something important like if he's a doctor there's an emergency... stuff like that.
