A "lottery drawing" was held December 1st, 1969. Was that the first draft, or just the assigning of numbers to birthdays? Was the assigning numbers to birthdays what people refer to as the draft?

Were the lower numbers more likely to be chosen?

Were 18 year old high school seniors, college bound students eligible?

When did people begin to flee to Canada to avoid the draft? Was the summer of 1970 the 'rush'?

Any info would be great, or a website, or a book, it's tough to find a lot of specifics on the draft process.

I'm 16, and I wanted to make sure I'm not gonna just suddenly get bad at writing poetry. I feel like I'm still getting better, but I'm afraid one day I'll just wake up and have lost all ability to write poetry.

Whenever I read, whether it be a novel or a newspaper article or whatever, I naturally use my own voice (in my head) for each character/speaker. I was just wondering what other people did. Do you hear a different voice for each character or do you just hear your own voice?

I'm looking for the title of a short story I would like to re-read. I am 99% positive it was by Rudyard Kipling. Setting included slums of India where eventually no one will buy the magic item (lamp?) for any price. The male protagonist acquires the item for a large sum of pounds because he believes it will make his wife happy and well again. All appears well, until it turns against them somehow. Each time it changes hands it must be sold for progressively lower and lower sums. The units used are pounds, shilling, pence, etc. Whoever is left with it is ruined.

Thank you to the Yahoo Answers community. I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone knows this one.

~For ten bucks a night
You can get wasted
For life,
That's not considering inflation
Which might make it
Somewhere around twenty
Unless the world turns
Moral in
Another prohibition --
In that case you'd do
Just as well a

What is/ are the difference(s) between Apparel and Fashion design, is it the same thing?
Because I was looking at the Art Institutes and they have those two different programs < would this be about the type of degree: one year, two year..>
http://www.artinstitutes.edu/areaso...

Part 2: I want to go to one of these school, but my drawing isn't that great, so could I be able to go to a community college and just take art classes, then create a strong portfolio?

One last thing :
For those of you that have had experience in this sort of schooling, would you suggest a certain Art Institute or ANOTHER fashion centered school?

"The lyric poet may drink wine and live generously, but the epic poet, he who shall sing of the God's and their descent unto men must drink water out of a wooden bowl. For poetry is not devil's wine, but God's wine."

Could Technology Spark Evolution?

After hours to the various BBC documentaries about the evolution of our planet and our species I wondered about this.
It has been assumed any further evolution in the human species is probably unlikely. Previous changes in our evolution (ie biological) might have been forced by drastic changes in enviroment. Our enviroment for dated civilizition has been stabble. Could this new world of Technology spark evolution? The changes that caused evolution before was changes in enviroment and the evolution took millions of years. All of our technology has been invented in the last 100 or so years. That to me seems like a very drastic change in a very short time.

Watch a 50-year old try to play with a gameboy,
and watch 7-year old master the computer.
This gap in comprehension is huge in only one generation.

There has been confusion about 'evolution', I am addressing the inherited characteristics that become more a articulated/dominate.

Favorite book? What do you like most about his books? Do you read the non-Dirk Pitt books because I kind of have a personal ban on them. He may not be loyal to Dirk Pitt but I am.

1. When you play a guitar and are reading tabs. Do you press your fingers on the fret or to the left or the right of the fret.

2. Is there a certain rule for what fingers you are supposed to use on notes because i noticed tabs dont tell you.

I have never played guitar before and I'm getting one for Christmas and i was hoping to figure out basic info before i start learning.
Thanks for any responses!
