...all clowns don't talk either. ☺ Mimes never talk. There are many types of clown and the mime is actually one type (in the same way that a poodle is a type of dog).
Traditionally, the mime acts out a story through motion only without sound. His art is properly called pantomime. It need not be funny to be pantomime (such as the stereotypical "caught in the wind" or "stuck in a box") but often has that effect.
Clowns (depending upon their genre) intend to be comic performers. Clowns are often (and historically) able to comment on social issues which the common person could not. We still see this in the form of stand-up comedians (a clown type) in the US.
Most mimes are soloists (not even acknowledging the audience as present) whereas most other clowns require the audience participation or another clown.

Mimes are unable to talk, and they rely on their hands to express a situation. They do not make balloon animals, or do any types of tricks like clowns do. Mimes often wear black and white striped shirts and wear white gloves, and rely on "pantomime" to entertain (most common you see examples of mimes pretending to be stuck in a box or pulling a rope-all done while using just their hands). Clowns are allowed to talk and often dress in bright, vibrant colors, and have extremely large shoes.

Clowns can make noise-mimes can't.
Also, not many mimes get invited to entertain birthday parties.
