True. Through love u can win over even ur worst enemy. India was a British Colony. Mahatma Gandhi didn't hate British. This is the reason India has very strong ties with her erstwhile colonial masters. What bigger proof u need ? A lesson for Americans and those who are spearheading terrorism. It's here Mahatma Gandhi differed with Subash Chandra Bose who believed in armed struggle for freedom. Hate and blood shed begets more hatred and blood shed. When India was divided and entire country was burning in communal riots, the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawharlal Nehrue turned to last Vice-Roy Lord Mountbatten for help and it's he who ruled the country behind the curtain. This is called true love. What more u wish to hear about strength of love. In fact love is the divine power and nothing can defeat it. Mahatma Gandhi proved this point.

This is far too strong a statement to initiate an argument for public interest of a better knowledge. I struggle with questions like this and yet I feel there is something that could be said to bring the point home to myself, for instance.
If I ask what is love, then answers are likely to from people to people. This, because everyone experiences love in their own ways: for some love is family, for other it is a goal in life, a mission, a cause, or a faith, whereas for some other people’s minds love might have more abstract meanings, they might know love to be devotion, commitment and sacrifice.
In short, love is a grand abstract notion in the mind that when realised in life wonderful things happen in the lives of people; love exactly like God is an unknown capacity in the mind that needs to be materialised. Then it is not love that is important from human point of view it what it enables people to do, or what people do when they are in love. How love shows up in their lives? If love is like an ocean, or air all around us, within which we all live, then what makes certain few people more than the rest to be in love?
There is something in mind, or in the heart, if you like, that enables human beings to find love and to give love in this world, that I regard to be the most powerful thing in the world.

Since love is an emotion, it is only fair to take this question in that context. Comparing love to its opposite, which is hate, it seems comparatively weak. Hatred has fulled countless wars, where love has allowed people to lower their defenses long enough to be murdered.
At first glance love seems the weaker emotion, but if one thinks a little more optimistically, one will realise that almost every person on who exists, has existed, or will exist in the future was the product of two people love. Since almost all people are the result of two people love, love must be the more powerful emotion.

I disagree strongly and after I explain you will agree sadness is. Heres why. Lets say you won 30 million in the lottery but you get a phone call 10 min later to tell you the person who you love most in the world died. Sadness always takes over and positive feelings are only present themselves when the misery's of life do not present themselves.

Logically, love can only come from "someone." Humans can be destroyed, and if all humans are destroyed, than love is destroyed. This same logic applies to creatures, if you think animals can love. The most powerful thing in the world would have to be something that cannot be destroyed.

love is powerful. but there are so many things to compare it to. anger. anger drives people mad and then they blame it on love. love is sometimes an excuse to do stupid things. but everyone does them. every one thinks about love. everyone tries to find love. everyone bends and molds there live around love. so maybe love is the most powerful. it certainly has a hold on every one doesn't it? what does that say?

yes for you could do a lot of things when you are in love, you could even forget yourself and give in when you are in love, i do believe in that, and it could also make the world go round instead of stopping in the middle of nowhere....that even if you have a hard time in life you could still smile and feel that even if you are carrying a lot of burdens when you see your love one all those problems are erased by what you call the powerful mysterious emotion called love....the Beatles even had their song all you need is love...probably there would be no more wars no more crimes if we have love in our hearts...you see love is not just for those sweethears it could be love for your parents it could be a wonderful relationship with them if you love them truly and would understand their point of view, and love to those who annoys you geez its hard but it could happen if you just let those hatred vanish in your system so i think its a powerful thing

Yes it is. God = Love. He doesn't exude or control it, he IS Love. Therefore, Love is the most powerful thing in our existence.
