Favorite book? What do you like most about his books? Do you read the non-Dirk Pitt books because I kind of have a personal ban on them. He may not be loyal to Dirk Pitt but I am.

You're missing potentital Pitt moments, then. You never know when Pitt and Al will pop up in the Kurt Austin stories or the Oregon Files series. Cussler really likes to weave all of them together like that. And he is not being disloyal to Pitt by writing about other characters. Pitt (save the Dirk for his son) can't always save the world with Al at his side, sometimes someone else needs to be there. By having Kurt Austin, the crew of the Oregon, and Dirk Jr. around Cussler has plenty of room to play in the universe he's created.
