Please put your ideas on this poem:

How can two things be so alike, but given by the same people?
that is like killing someone then praying in a steeple.
This is something I will never get,
No one will, I am willing to bet.
I don't think it will ever cease
Can't the world just pick between war and peace?

Special Miracles
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

This baby is different,
He doesn't speak words.
But his expressions,
And his eyes are surely heard.

His world is wrapped,
Within silence.
Yet his laughter,
Has the sound of a beautiful violin.

You and I would surely crumble,
Under the weight,
Of the things he endures,
Day to day.
We'd say it's fate.

Yet to me he is a blessing,
Sent from Heaven in a wheelchair.
His vision's impaired,
But his views of life are very clear.

And there is still,
His joyful laughter.
Like a sermon from a pastor.
I feel like my student,
Is the master.
The teacher,
Like I'm an amateur in his profession.
He's a special miracle.
And I've been taught a lesson.

Maybe it is a naive question. But even with most "decent" people, there often seems to be lacking basic genuine goodness, there are attacks on those who are vulnerable,
little digs designed to make themselves feel superior. Sometimes I just feel so fed up with the human race. I want a better world than the one we seem to have. Is it me who is wrong, am I perceiving things wrong, or are most people
hard and unkind?

I heard someone speaking about Pres. Kennedy's intent to return America to the gold standard monetary system, and if I remember correctly, the speaker related this intent to why some people in high places like BIG BANKERS would have liked to've seen Pres. Kennedy not alive.

Can anyone explain why a return to the gold standard would hurt BIG BANKERS and/or does anyone know of any books that discuss this conspiracy theory on the Kennedy assassination? Thank you to all who answer.

"But men labor under mistake. The better part of the man is soon plowed into the soil for compost. By a seeming fate, commonly called necessity, they are employed, as it says in an old book, laying up treasures which moth and rust will corrupt and thieves break through and steal. It is a fool's life, as they will find when they get to the end of it, if not before."

It's from Walden, which I just began reading. It stood out to me, because I want to disagree with it a little... but in the end I think he's right.

What do you think?

I have studied the Vietnam War immensely, especially in college where I composed an honors thesis on the subject. I have come to the conclusion that South Vietnam was never a politically viable State. By that I mean a government who retains a plurality of support from its people and a military capable of defending itself. In addition, South Vietnam was never a legitimate democracy.

Is there anyone who cares to counter my claim?

Can anyone provide evidence that South Vietnam was recognized as a legitimate government by a plurality of its citizens? Keep in mind that all of the elections conducted by S.V. were dubious, so election results don't count.

Can anyone provide evidence that the South Vietnamese military was capable of defending itself against a VC/NVA/NLF attack? That means WITHOUT the assistance of American ground and air forces.
