Maybe it is a naive question. But even with most "decent" people, there often seems to be lacking basic genuine goodness, there are attacks on those who are vulnerable,
little digs designed to make themselves feel superior. Sometimes I just feel so fed up with the human race. I want a better world than the one we seem to have. Is it me who is wrong, am I perceiving things wrong, or are most people
hard and unkind?

All these answers are great, but I really, really like yours LilLaTlu orTashi, whichever you like to be called. I think sometimes I am way too hard on the human race.

Hey!

evil--morally wrong or bad; immoral; wicked; harmful; injurious

Not all of humanity is evil. The word you are looking for is imperfect. Humanity is horribly imperfect. It started with the first man, and moved on from there. Think of it like a dent in a pan. The original pan was accidentally (or intentionally) dented by something or someone. Well, someone makes a mold using that pan as a base. The next pan has a larger dent. And then someone makes a mold using THAT pan as a base. And then there is an even larger dent in the next pan. Then so on and so forth.

Humanity has gotten more and more imperfect as time has gone on. No one is completely perfect, therefore no one is completely good.

But evil, to me, has always been defined by someone who does not strive to be good. As long as you work towards that goal, impossible or not, you are a 'good person'.

If you are a believer in God, I could go even deeper. I could tell you how Satan the Devil is corrupting the world in an attempt to drag as many people down with him as possible. Satan hates humans, he has for a very long time. To him, we are no better than animals, play toys for his pleasures. He wants us to be destroyed, just as he knows that he will be in the end. So, if you want an answer towards why the world is so evil, look to the source of all evil.

And that is the reason I believe that there is so much evil in the world. Not all people are evil, but all of them are imperfect. Try not to mistake the two. One is someone who would never help you, the other is someone doing the best they can with what they have.

Luv ya,
Tashi :)

We are all evil to some degree.
The reason there is so much evil is because Satan is still alive and well.
Some day God will destroy him, but for now he lets him have his "fun." He gives us free will-to follow Satan or God. When we choose Satan we do evil. When we choose to follow God we do good. The only perfect place is heaven. The only perfect human who ever walked the earth was/is God's son, Jesus the Messiah.
Whenever I put a human being on a pedestal, I am always disapointed. I find out they are imperfect, just like me.

Because you perceive so many events in the world as evil.

Good and evil are two sides of the same coin.
You measure one against the other.
How could you make a better world if there was
no evil to undo?
