Since you believe you lost the war, you must be from one of the Axis nations. The three major Axis nations were Germany, Italy and Japan.

You lost for three major reasons.

1. Hitler invaded Russia before finishing off the British.
2. Japan attacked the US at Pearl Harbor and did not get the carriers.
3. The US was able to out produce all other nations.

By not taking over England before turning his attention to Russia, Hitler made a major error. England was able to fend off the British until the US had built themselves up to the point they could invade Europe. Having England available was a convenient place from which to invade the mainland of Europe.

Next, Japan did a lot of damage to the US fleet at Pearl Harbor, but by not getting any of the carriers they doomed their mission. The carriers allowed the Americans to project real power in the Pacific.

Finally, the US had enough raw material that they could build war material faster than they used it. Of the 789,000 planes built during World War II, the US built 303,000. And remember, they didn't start building them in earnest until the war had been going for two years. The US built 2.6 million machine guns of the 4.7 million produced.

You see my point. Because England was able to hold off Germany and Japan didn't finish the job early, the US was able to build the things neccessary to win the war. After all, the US factories weren't getting bombed. They had the people, ingenuity and raw material.

Because the Japanese ignorantly awakened "The Sleeping Giant". Yamamoto was correct in his fears that once America was involved the war for the Axis powers was lost.

We didn't like mushroom clouds in our backyards, so we surrendered...

and from the German perspective: we were led by a megalomaniac who left our cities in rubble. We did not fancy living under the iron fist of Stalin, so we surrendered to the western allies....at least as many of us that could run to the west....

That depends on which 'we' you're talking about. Germany? Japan? Italy?

Geez, there sure aren't a lot of people who remember Italy was on the Axis side too - it wasn't just Germany and Japan. I'm relieved to see at least a few others know that!

How come so many people mispell 'lose?'

Once World War II ended, the powers that be decided Communism was THE bigger threat, and without admitting that the Germans and Japanese (the countries they had just defeated, and who had fought against Communism too) were right, they chose to make Germany and Japan the winners by investing billions of dollars in those countries and securing them from Communism.

You gotta be kidding me!!!!!!!! As someone mentioned above, if you're from Japan, Germany or Italy, then you LOST THE WAR. You'd better read up on your history.

Uh, depends on who "we" is. If you're talking about the Allied side, then we did win the war. If you're talking about the Axis, then they lost primarily because their efforts weren't coordinated enough.
