...while I was grieving over my first miscarriage.



An unknown being
grew deep inside of me.
A person I love,
though she has gone away.

I love her so dearly,
for she was my first child...
...a child I'll never know.

Questions bombard me...
for I wonder what she was like.

Would she look like me?
Or favor her dad?
Would she be quiet and shy?
Or a little bit wild?

My heart is in pieces...

Because...
she won't ever come back
to the parents who love her.

I'm doing a reserach project on Carl Stephenson's "Leiningen Versus the Ants" and I'm having a lot of difficulty finding any type of literary critique on this story or the author in general. He's spent almost all of his life secluded in Germany away from the spotlight so there really isn't anything interesting about him except for this magnificent story. Please, if you have any info, let me know, and try to cite your source please. I'd appreciate it.
