3333333333333333.......don't listen to the people below they do not know civil war history,this question is undeniably 3.when lee was inflicting large casualties on the union troops there was a call for his removal but Lincoln knowing an election was coming and fearing any new government might make peace with the south urged him to keep up the pressure to quote ole Abe"I need this man,he fights".grant new that the south could be beaten in a war of attrition and that is what he did!!!!!!!
